Cassettes Won’t Listen Release ‘Evinspacey’ June 21st

Cassettes Won’t Listen, the one-man project of Jason Drake (partner and former director of marketing at the famed indie hip hop label Definitive Jux) announced the release of his full-length album Evinspacey. Known best for the single “Cutting Balloons” and official remixes of notable artists such as Aesop Rock, El-P, Midlake, Mr. Lif, Morcheeba and others, Drake’s track “The Echoes” mixes futuristic hip hop beats with his melodic vocals. The album itself is Drake’s nod to his new address (LA from Brooklyn) as well a musing on despair in the city. Summer and Fall tour dates for Cassettes Won’t Listen will be announced soon. Meanwhile, listen to “The Echoes” while meandering down the street and you will find yourself transported into a completely new world. A world you won’t need much convincing to explore.

Tom Vek Premieres New Video

As June 7th approaches and the moment when Tom Vek’s new album Leisure Seizure is available digitally gets closer, we get a second preview of this very promising album. The song is called “World of Doubt,” and the video features two ladies dancing in front of very loud speakers and television sets. Don’t expect rap video dancing on here; what they do goes barely beyond head-bobbing and a little leg-shaking to the beat. But they’re in the zone even as their hair gets blown in their face by the sound waves because of the song’s hard-hitting beats and ominous riffs.

As the video’s first image states, this song has the best effect if watched with headphones on. Although if you have access to the same kind of amplifier set-up that the girls have in the video, I’m sure that’s equally efficient.

Teen Daze Travels To A Silent Planet

In February of 2008, Teen Daze, spent seven weeks studying philosophy in a somewhat remote village in the Swiss Alps. His engulfed himself in books, filling his mind with the teachings of great thinkers who had passed long before he was born and fiction novelists such as C.S. Lewis. In fact, it was Lewis’ Out Of The Silent Planet that served as the inspiration for Daze’s new EP, A Silent Planet.

The six songs that appear on the EP are the result of many musical experiments, auditory accompaniments, and an attempt at a re-creation of Daze’s experiences with this novel. A Silent Planet is set for release on August 9th, but you can pre-order your copy HERE. Below, we’ve included the EP’s lead single “Surface” for free download.

Coachella Expands to TWO Weekends

There was a high demand for Coachella tickets this year and they are certainly taking advantage of the situation for the sold out shows. Hey, why not? Next year the festival will take place on two weekends in April as opposed to the one weekend stint. Already scheduled and ready to go, Coachella will take place from April April 13-15 and 20-22 next year. Reps for the festival state that the artists playing both weekends will be identical, so need to shell out the money for both weekends. Passes for next April go on sale THIS Friday, June 3rd and will be available at the payment plan price until June 10th. You will still be able to get the passes but you will have to pay for them in full. Three day passes run $269 plus fees, and will be held in Indio, California, as always.
