Men Make Music, Releasing “Talk About Body” in 2011

Remember how awesome Le Tigre was? The left-wing sociopolitical electroclash group from the late 90’s paved the way for feminists who really like dancing and dancers who really like feminist lyrics.

Enter MEN, former Le Tigre member, JD Samson’s new outfit alongside Michael O’Neill (Ladybug Transistor, Princess) and Ginger Brooks Takahashi (LTTR, The Ballet).

Preparing to release their debut in February 2011, Talk About Body (IAMSOUND), MEN have released a video for the single “Off Our Backs” to critical acclaim.

A bend towards political-pop, MEN offers a platform for issues such as wartime economies, sexual compromise, and the demand for liberties in synth heavy post-punk, post-gender songs.

Talk About Body mixes complex songs for the dance floor or political rally with anthemic, addictive lyrics and dance floor beat. MEN positions a postmodern take on queer lifestyle and a fresh approach to pop music. http://www.menmakemusic.com

We Were the States Strike “Gold”

album

We Were the States were almost done with their recording of their new album when the Nashville floods filled their studio with almost two feet of water. Defiant and ready to beat this mishap, they recorded the rest of it in the Club Roar studio.

The result of this album is an energy-filled album called “Rasa”, with leading single “Gold”. The track, which can be listened to here, is a euphoric love song that has enough rock to get your head nodding.

Check out their album teaser video after the cut!

Bright Eyes Returns with New Album This Winter!

Conor Oberst fans rejoice! Bright Eyes is BACK! The group will release their newest, and 7th album on February 15, 2011 via Saddle Creek. Titled The People’s Key, will feature ten new tracks from the Oberst, Mike Mogis, Nathaniel Walcott trio.

Additional players on the record include Andy LeMaster, (Now It’s Overhead), Matt Maginn (Cursive), Carla Azar (Autolux), Clark Baechle (The Faint), Shane Aspegren (The Berg Sans Nipple), Laura Burhenn (The Mynabirds) and Denny Brewer (Refried Ice Cream).

What will this sound like you may ask…well we guess it’s too early to tell. The follow-up to Cassadega (Saddle Creek) was a long wait as Oberst dabbled in solo projects and super groups. This could also be the last Bright Eyes record if anyone recalls Conor stating that a few years ago. We will have to wait and see for sure.
