Luke James Shaffer Unveils New Record Today!

Today, singer-songwriter Luke James Shaffer has dropped his new Volume One EP. His single “Last First Kiss” had us lovestruck in a heartbeat, and this collection of tracks is no different.

His website is hilarious and his social media is really great too (check out his GIFS on his Instagram) this from the site….

Luke exudes gentlemanly charm and earthy sophistication. His congenial easy-spirited musicality traverses alternative Americana, folk-pop, country, soul, gospel, and the intimate singer-songwriter genre. His warm and soulful singing have garnered him comparisons to Adam Levine, The Lumineers, Vance Joy, Zac Brown, and Mumford & Sons. We agree but we would also throw in some Ed Sheeran for good measure.

But back to this marvelous EP…. it leads with a track called “Siren.” Luke James has been known for feel-good music, and this track exemplifies that. That and his love for his wife, which make him all the more appealing. The acoustic strumming and soft piano in the background are the perfect attributes to Shaffer’s captivating vocals. The song is soft and sweet, something you would listen to on a long summer drive with the windows rolled down.

Our favorite off the EP is “How Sweet The Sound.” The track is very soft and pretty, and makes the listener want to close their eyes to take it all in. Shaffer’s voice is accompanied by a soft guitar for the majority of the song, and it ends with immense power.

We couldn’t be more impressed with this EP if we tried. Luke James has proven himself to be an exceptional artist with endless talent. We’re so happy for him and can’t wait to tall as many people as we can to get this EP as soon as you can and then put it on repeat.

Video Voyeur: 3Qs with Sarah Sharp

Sarah Sharp is an Austin Texas legend and an artist who continues to come into her own as an artist with each EP she is releasing (she is on #2 of 4 this year). A recent feature in

Texas Lifestyle magazine proclaimed:

“If there is a torch-bearer of this hidden kingdom of jazz, it would be Sarah Sharp…She frequented the confluences of culture that are SXSW and the Austin Film Festival, getting her vocals into other creative endeavors while building a life and a reputation alongside the band mates and the loved ones she called her own. Her reign has been on a slow and steady climb, and it wasn’t until a sequence of life-altering events visited her that anyone expected anything but a jazz dynasty.”

This video “Pieces” is from her first EP Wake, and we caught up with Sarah recently to dig into her new video below.

Tell us the story of this song, why did you choose to visualize this song specifically?

“Pieces” is inspired by the Jungian theory of the shadow self, the darker aspects of the unconscious that can become powerful, positive tools if we integrate them on the surface.

What was the inspiration behind this video (visuals, storyline, etc.)?
In Mythology, the ocean/water symbolize the unconscious, both individual and collective. The pieces (body parts) that emerge above the surface are “islands of consciousness” a.k.a. the ego. The colors in this video tie in with the energetic systems of the body, the chakras… It’s also represented in the album artwork for this EP, which was created by Cody Blazek.

What was the process of making this video?

I’m not a very visual person. I relied completely on Jazz Mills from Top Girl Productions to produce this video. Jazz pulled in the Lenz Twinz, Sloan and Felix Lenz to shoot and edit it. They are quite a team. I had complete trust in them. “Sure, I’ll be nude in my bathtub with black trash bags, glitter confetti, Crayola bath color tablets, a gallon of milk and a bunch of flowers. You name it!” I love their work and trust their vision. We’re just a bunch of indie creatives helping each other and having naked bath time fun
