“The Ship of Desires” a Hypnotic Track from Nandan Gautam

Screen Shot 2018-07-24 at 11.45.08 AM.png

Nandan Gautam takes listeners on a metaphysical journey through his spiritual awakening on his album and semi-autobiography, The King of the Sea. The Baku, Azerbaijan-based digital composer knew he was destined to be a musician, but after struggling to grasp the guitar, he still believed his true calling was music. After meeting guru Bharat Thakur, he had an enlightening experience through meditation and discovered how he could use electronic instruments as his medium for musical expression.

A highlight off the album, “The Ship of Desires”, deals with the internal conflicts of spirituality and the real world through an array of hypnotic pulsing synthesizers, Eastern-influenced percussion, and Nandan’s smooth throat singing. This track in particular showcases Nandan’s eclectic musical influences as it transitions from ethereal and soothing to an invigorating rock section featuring the intricate guitar solos of Tony Das.

The accompanying music video captures this sonic juxtaposition through contrasting scenes in nature to depict spiritual life in a secular world. We love The King of the Sea and can’t wait to hear what Nandan delivers next!

“Come Back to Me” Video is timeless and Lovely Just Like Molly Kruse

Screen Shot 2018-07-25 at 3.30.34 PM.png

Molly Kruse returns with a video for her song, “Come Back to Me”, off her self-titled EP. Inspired by a short relationship, Kruse shares her feelings of joy and reverie through blissfully nostalgic instrumentation and retro visuals. She enlisted renown film orchestrator, Randy Kerber, and director Erin Lunsford to bring her vision to life.

“It was imperative to me that the audience experience the pure elation and joy I felt while creating the song, so Erin and I worked tirelessly to emphasize that feeling. We envisioned using a classic car – to enhance the retro vibe of the song – and setting the shoot in Malibu – to get that classic, California, 1960’s beach feeling.”

“Come Back to Me” gives off strong nostalgia vibes through Motown-esque instrumentation and her sweet, soulful vocal. The song’s message is wholesome as is the accompanying music video in which she spends a romantic day with her beau, former cast member of VH1’s “Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta” Nicholas Canyon, on the beach. The video perfectly complements the track’s feelings of reminiscing over a past love through the beautiful cinematography.

Luke James Shaffer Unveils New Record Today!

Screenshot 2018-07-11 at 4.10.21 PM (1)

Today, singer-songwriter Luke James Shaffer has dropped his new Volume One EP. His single “Last First Kiss” had us lovestruck in a heartbeat, and this collection of tracks is no different.

His website is hilarious and his social media is really great too (check out his GIFS on his Instagram) this from the site….

Luke exudes gentlemanly charm and earthy sophistication. His congenial easy-spirited musicality traverses alternative Americana, folk-pop, country, soul, gospel, and the intimate singer-songwriter genre. His warm and soulful singing have garnered him comparisons to Adam Levine, The Lumineers, Vance Joy, Zac Brown, and Mumford & Sons. We agree but we would also throw in some Ed Sheeran for good measure.

But back to this marvelous EP…. it leads with a track called “Siren.” Luke James has been known for feel-good music, and this track exemplifies that. That and his love for his wife, which make him all the more appealing. The acoustic strumming and soft piano in the background are the perfect attributes to Shaffer’s captivating vocals. The song is soft and sweet, something you would listen to on a long summer drive with the windows rolled down.

Our favorite off the EP is “How Sweet The Sound.” The track is very soft and pretty, and makes the listener want to close their eyes to take it all in. Shaffer’s voice is accompanied by a soft guitar for the majority of the song, and it ends with immense power.

We couldn’t be more impressed with this EP if we tried. Luke James has proven himself to be an exceptional artist with endless talent. We’re so happy for him and can’t wait to tall as many people as we can to get this EP as soon as you can and then put it on repeat.
