Auvic Gives Inspiration with New Single

In his newest single, “Inspire”, off of his upcoming album, Soulfire: Insight, Auvic brings to life the incredible story of a young warlord’s id, ego/superego and the battle between them all. In an unexpectedly complex story, Auvic’s music seems to effortlessly bring an incredibly clear message.

Sonically, this track takes control within the first few seconds, with an immediate electric guitar intro, and an even more captivating beat that runs through the majority of the song. Auvic makes listeners feel as though they are running in their dreams, but their feet don’t seem to be taking them anywhere. This is exactly what he intended for this track, and he absolutely nailed it.

“Inspire is about the birth of a warlord obsessed with beauty in death…” Auvic paints the picture of a warlord who goes into dream mode after fainting, and finds himself face to face with a shadow of himself (the id) trying to kill a dove (the superego). The dove holds the power of compassion within the young child, and so the only way to destroy the compassion, is to destroy the dove.

After the child reluctantly listens to its id, the dove is killed. The boy awakens and is brought back to consciousness, and finds that what happened in his dream has become a reality. He no longer has compassion, but rather an impenetrable will to get revenge.

This tracks brings us into the complex and creative mind of Auvic, as it makes listeners think deeply about themselves, and the story of the warlord, and the track itself. As if we aren’t already intrigued enough, we cannot wait to hear more from Auvic and his upcoming album.

Video Voyeur: 3Qs with The Dangerous

thedangerous

Hailing from California, meet The Dangerous. The band who have been making big waves with their new video for “Gangsta,” shows their raw and honest side, bringing to life their journey both in music and in life. The Indie-Reggae infused band bring a dash of light to the table, which will draw your attention as it has ours. Gearing up to release their debut album, The Dangerous are ones to keep an eye on. We speak to The Dangerous as we go a bit deeper into “Gangsta”…

Tell us the story of this song, why did you choose to visualize this song specifically?
Edgar – This song reflects parts of growing up in San Jose, CA for both Keviano and myself. We used to live down the street from each other on 33rd street. This is where we started jamming with friends in my garage. So the song is just a small glimpse of what it was like for us growing up skateboarding and playing music. We didn’t really choose to visualize for this song, it kind of just fell together on its own. Keviano originally thought of the idea of filming at the skatepark but Matt Freiheit was the mastermind behind the magic. He filmed and directed the video. So big thanks to him and everybody that showed up at the park that day.

What was the inspiration behind this video(visuals, storyline, etc.)?

Edgar – The inspiration was just to film something cool really. This was the first music video the band had ever shot so we were just stoked to be there filming. There wasn’t a set storyline. Matt just directed us on the go. It was all improv.

What was the process of making this video?

– Keviano thought of the idea of filming at a skatepark and pitched it to Matt (director)
– Matt loved the idea
– We created an event on facebook and invited a bunch of people
-People showed up and we filmed for about 2 hours
-Matt went on to edit and produce the video
-We loved the end result

Edgar – It was such a smooth process. There was no creative tugging or difficult hurdles. We’re very fortunate to be surrounded by creative and open minded artists.

Love & Rescue Lead the Way on New Single

Your new favorite band has just dropped the song that will be at the top of all of your summer playlists. Love & Rescue includes lead vocalist Ryan Irvin, lead guitarist Gabe Swilling, bassist Joey Sanchez, and drummer Jonathan Emery. These guys bring the perfect combination of country and rock, with a touch of folk. Their passion seeps through in all of their tracks, and their charisma is unlike any other. This band was already on our radar after their debut EP released in 2017, There & Back, but now with their newest single release, “Find Her”, we are officially hooked.

The track begins as a soft acoustic vibe, but quickly levels up with the introduction of an electric guitar and even stronger vocals. And before you know it, you’re up dancing to this incredibly catchy track , singing along with the guys of Love & Rescue.

Not only does this track absolutely rock, but “Find Her” is also a shockingly beautiful song, lyrically. Giving fans gut- wrenching lines like, “who says broken hearts don’t bleed?”, and “ you will search for her so long, but it’s worth the fight…” This track purposefully holds the title of the whole EP, Worth The Fight in her lyrics, and that makes this song all the more special.

Just like our readers, we are absolutely obsessed with this band, and we’’ll have this track on repeat until they drop some more music.

Video Voyeur: 3Qs with Darryl Rahn

Artist Darryl Rahn is one that has been on our radar the past couple of weeks. With his glorious new video in tow, “Talk” which premiered via Aesthetic Magazine, the buzzworthy artist is surely making his name in the world. The thrilling new piece entices from beginning to end, with a plot twist in every direction. We had the chance to catch up with the Brooklyn resident, to dive a bit deeper into his newest endeavor.
Tell us the story of this song, why did you choose to visualize this song specifically?

This song is about a feeling I get pretty often here in New York. Every day you have to interact with and answer to so many people, and I’ve found myself craving alone time more and more. I decided to make a video for it just because I thought the song was catchy enough, and would lend itself to a multitude of concepts.

What was the inspiration behind this video(visuals, storyline, etc.)?

My old friend Jordan Tetewsky (director) and I came up with the plot pretty quickly after turning the lyric on its head. We thought it’d be funny to have the main character adamantly following people while singing “I don’t wanna talk” over and over. We also both love classic horror films (Friday the 13th, Halloween), so it was a no-brainer to try and make this our own miniature version of those.

What was the process of making this video?

It was filmed in 3 full days. We basically exhausted every resource we had here in Brooklyn to source gear, production assistance, and locations, and just tackled it as fast as we could. Unfortunately we had to wrap early the first night because it was so cold, but for the most part it went about as smoothly as it could have.

On the Verge: KASADOR

Screenshot 2019-04-08 at 5.42.25 PM.png
Kingston-based alt-rock outfit Kasador spent their first 3 years cutting their teeth on the road, garnering attention for their engaging and high-energy live performances. Now they’re gearing up to release a new full length, Brood & Bloom, and are sharing the title track first. Dynamic guitars and soaring vocals can be heard “Brood & Bloom” while staying true to the band’s roots in rock and funk which has us in awe of the group.

The track is featured on their upcoming full length, titled ‘Brood & Bloom’ – an album written through tough times and trying to find something more positive from those experiences. Produced in part by Graham Walsh (Sam Roberts, Lights, Wintersleep) and by Rob Baker & Gord Sinclair of The Tragically Hip, ‘Brood & Bloom’ is set to release in the fall of 2019.

Lauren Waller Brings us “Quicksand”

IMG_0814.JPG

Indie pop songstress Lauren Waller shows us a more seductive side with her newest track, Quicksand. Although she has consistently fed our ears with tracks that we can’t get out of our heads, this one feels different. And by different, we mean incredible. The production, the vocals, and the overall style of the track beautifully highlights Lauren’s growth as an artist and as a musician. And we are obsessed.

The track begins with a vibe that reminds us of
Look What You Made Me Do by Taylor Swift, except this song welcomes in a mysterious and intimate vibe that we never knew we needed. With lyrics like “loose lips sink ships, steal a kiss, quick tongues” this record plays with the idea of desirability, lust, and passion in a confident and dangerous way.

As if Lauren Waller’s gorgeous hair wasn’t enough to obsess over, her smooth and sultry voice brings out a whole new level of “fanatic” in us. We’ll be listening to Quicksand on repeat all weekend, and are already excited to hear more hits from one of our favorite artists.
