2010 saw a rise to fame for frontman Jamie xx of The xx and a return to prominence for fusion artist Gil Scott Heron. After a 13 year hiatus from music, Heron released I’m New Here to mostly rave reviews, while Jamie saw equally positive reviews pour in for his band’s debut album, xx.
Now, the pair are teaming up for what is sure to be one of 2011’s most intriguing releases. Less of a collaboration than a reinterpretation, Jamie plans on taking 13 of the songs Heron recorded during the I New Here sessions and twisting them into a new body of work. Entitled We’re New Here, the album is set to be released on February 22nd.
The first single from We’re New Here, “NY is Killing Me,” was released earlier this week and is currently available for download HERE. You can also peep the video down below.

Lollapalooza is almost here! The festival just announced this morning the full line up, and we must say, it’s the best batch of bands we’ve seen in years. It makes us wish this was still a show that went on tour. The fun all goes down from August 6th to 8th at Grant Park in Chicago.
Reunions and big name stars will be gracing the stage and you won’t know where to go first. The moment you were sitting on the edge of your seat for is finally here. Bonnaroo has finally announced their 2010 lineup! The festival which takes place in Manchester, Tennessee from June 10th-13th, is filled to the rafters with stellar acts, and if you can believe it, there are more to be announced. The artists are quite diverse this year, more than ever. From Japandroids to Norah Jones, The Avett Brothers to Gwar.
