Since then, we’ve heard whispers concerning how the album might sound. Finally, with their album’s March 1st release date quickly approaching, Middle Brother has unveiled a single and slew of tour dates. Check them out down below.

Middle Brother Gets Technological

Middle Brother are taking a new angle to fan-interaction. The group has taken it upon themselves to develop their very own iPhone app.

The (free) app is intended to bring fans exclusive news, content and a new level of interaction with the band. You can download it right here. The app comes in preparation of the band’s first album, which will be out March 1st.

Middle Brother, in case you hadn’t heard, is made up of Deer Tick’s John McCauley, Dawes’ Taylor Goldsmith and Delta Spirit’s Matthew Vazquez. The three toured together in 2009 and realized their musical tastes were too similar to not collaborate in some form.

The group will be touring starting March 2nd to celebrate their self-titled release. Their schedule looks like this…

Mar-02 – Washington, DC – 9:30 Club

Mar-03 – Boston, MA – Paradise Rock Club

Mar-04 – Providence, RI – Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel

Mar-05 – Brooklyn, NY – Music Hall of Williamsburg

Mar-14 – Minneapolis, MN – First Avenue

Who is Middle Brother?

Earlier this week, Partisan Records made a huge announcement; Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes, John McCauley of Deer Tick, and Matthew Vasquez of Delta Spirit have joined forces to create Middle Brother. Since the trio played their tiny, late-night, unannounced event at CMJ under the moniker “MG&V,” there have been whispers that a side project wasn’t far off. But, little did we know that the guys had already wrapped their debut record, which is set for a March 1st, 2011 release date.

Middle Brother will be playing a one-off show December 20 at the Troubadour in Los Angeles  to benefit Invisible Children. That show will also feature an acoustic McCauley set.

Deer Tick Release Christmas Single, Acoustic Dates

Country-rock stalwarts, Deer Tick, have released your grandmother’s least favorite Christmas single. Titled “Holy Shit, It’s Christmas,” the Providence, Rhode Island natives bring a much needed kick in the pants to holiday music. This two song single, featuring both the title track and the song “Christmas All Year Long”, is out now on Itunes but can be picked up for free via the Partisan Records website with the purchase of any physical Deer Tick merch.

On the heels of their Christmas single, lead singer/guitarist John McCauley and guitarist Ian O’Neill have released a series of stripped down acoustic shows. McCauley has also added a solo date on December 20th to benefit Invisible Children, a non-profit committed to ending conflict in Uganda.
