The Rosebuds Return With Loud Planes Fly Low

After The Rosebuds released Life Like, their fourth album on Merge Records, the marriage that inspired the band ended. Ivan and Kelly were done, and The Rosebuds (Merge’s buoyant pop-rock couple who’d youthfully named their first album The Rosebuds Make Out) were in limbo.

Still, after much debate and agony, cooler heads prevailed and the duo were able to craft their new album Loud Planes Fly Low, a sad-eyed and bright new start born of the struggle to define their relationship as bandmates—and more importantly, friends—outside of the context of marriage.

Spin.com is currently streaming the new record, which is set for release next Tuesday. The site also sat down with Kelly to discuss the album’s dark subject matter and why making it was a cathartic experience for her.

This summer, The Rosebuds will hit the road for a nationwide tour, including certain dates with Bon Iver. Check out a full list of their upcoming shows down below.

Destroyer Releases Video for “Kaputt”

This video we are letting speak for itself. It’s weird. Very weird. But do you expect any less from Destroyer? No, we didn’t think so. Dan Bejar releases the video for the title track “Kaputt.” You’ve been warned.

She & Him Release New Video for “Thieves”

The dynamic duo of She and Him, better known as Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward make pretty videos to their pretty music. Their newest for the enchanting “Thieves,” is no different. Recently releasing their second record, Volume Two, the group is gaining more attention than even before. And THAT seemed unbeatable.

The video is produced by Norwood Creek, and features a child version of Deschannel and Ward, playing, and sending items to their older selves to discover in the future. Done in a sketchy black and white, it enchances the song for a really emotional impact that is beautifully done. She and Him can do no wrong.

Spoon Recording Follow Up to ‘Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga’

It has been already two years since we saw the release of the most critically acclaimed Spoon album ‘Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga.’ Yes it is hard to believe that it has really been that long, but Britt Daniel and the boys have announced they are heading back into the studio this summer to record another album. This is of course great news to Spoon fans, or indie fans in general. No doubt the band will keep on the path of genius their last few records have provided. When not in the studio this summer, Spoon will be playing a small (and I mean small!) handful of shows with bands such as The Atlas Sound and Low. I’m not sure about you, but I can’t wait to hear the new Spoon tracks. Most likely the album will be released early next year.

Conor Oberst: The Documentry

This is something that is sure to please all diehard Bright Eyes and Oberst fans. …A Mystic Valley Band documentry. The film called ‘One of My Kind’ will debut online Monday, April 15th. The hour long film was recorded by their guitar tech, Paul Schaffart, during the past year and a half. Covering everything from live performances to backstage and touring antics, this film will surely have it all. Actually, I’m surprised Conor never made one sooner.

You will be able to download the documentry at Causecast, IFC, Conor’s Website, Merge Records and Wichita Records (UK). These downloads will also be FREE.
