“Many other music docs and concert films can give you an idea of how great a band is live, but how many can truly make you feel like you’re in the audience? Todd P Goes to Austin is in elite company on that count.” -Goatdog’s Movies

“Todd P Goes To Austin” follows concert guru Todd Peterson and with it, you get to see electrifying performances fit to show the energy of the DIY underground scene. Siren Music Festival Celebrates 10 Years, Announces Lineup

Coney Island’s best, biggest, and only festival is celebrating 10 years at the iconic location. The Siren Music Festival is set to take place on July 17th in everyone’s favorite summer hot stop. The festival, which is in it’s 10th year, is starting to announce a few bands that are slated to play this year. Amongst the performers announced so far are Surfer Blood, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Matt and Kim, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, and Harlem. More bands are to be released soon, but the lineup so far looks pretty amazing to us.

The festival is FREE as it is every year, and it’s always packed, so you better make sure you plan to get there early. Siren Music Festival has been booking the coolest acts since the beginning. Past performers include the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Peaches, Modest Mouse, !!!, TV on the Radio, Death Cab for Cutie, Spoon, Brendan Benson, VHS or Beta, Tapes ‘N Tapes, We Are Scientists, Dr. Dog, White Rabbits, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, Ra Ra Riot, Islands, Beach House, and Bear Hands just to name a few.

Who knows what additions will be made to the lineup this year.

Bat for Lashes Release New Video for ‘Sleep Alone’

Lately I’ve been on a huge Bat for Lashes kick. I just can’t seem to get Natasha Kahn’s infectious songs out of my head. Fresh out of the vault, Bat for Lashes has released the third video from ‘Two Suns’ for ‘Sleep Alone’. Kahn is by far making the greatest videos out there today. The small stories within and the overwhelming color palette that sets the perfect tone makes each song more haunting than it already is.

Bat for Lashes was also nominiated today for an MTV Video Music Award (VMA) for the Breakthrough Video catagory up against Chairlift, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Matt and Kim, Cold War Kids, Passion Pit and more. Wow that is some list.

Matt and Kim ‘Grand’

The time has finally come for indie sweethearts Matt and Kim to release their sophmore record. As a huge fan of the band, I am personally really excited about this. The duo will release their new record titled ‘Grand’  on January 29th through Fader Records. In addition to the CD and internet version, the band will also put the record out on vinyl. Nice.  Matt and Kim seem to make a little change in their sound, but still remain to be themselves. The band is offering the first two singles titled “Good Ol’ Fashion Nightmare” and “Daylight”  are available through their website. They will also be doing a nationwide tour in support of the album starting in March.

Matt and Kim has also released the tracklisting for ‘Grand’
1. Daylight
2. Cutdown
3. Good Ol’ Fashion Nightmare
4. Spare Change
5. I Wanna
6. Lessons Learned
7. Don’t Slow Down
8. Turn This Boat Around
9. Cinders
10. I’ll Take Us Home
11. Daylight Outro (remix)
