Cloud Nothings Release New Single, “Understand At All”

Cloud Nothings just came out with a dreamy new song. The band started only a year ago with Dylan Baldi making lo-fi rock out of his parent’s basement outside of Cleveland. In the past year Cloud Nothings has released an EP, singles and made their way on tour coast to coast. Not bad for only a year on their own. “Understand It All” is from Cloud Nothings first self-titled full length, produced by Baltimore’s Chester Gwazda, known for his work with Dan Deacon and Future Islands.

Recorded at the home of Wham City, Baltimore’s Copycat Building, the scratchy catchy tune makes me desperately want to escape on a European holiday to see them with Les Savy Fav in Amsterdam on their upcoming tour. Dylan Baldi records all the tracks by his lonesome so let’s hope the live band keeps up the great energy. “Cloud Nothings” is released January 25th, 2011.

The Tall Tall Trees Announce November 20th Fundraiser in NYC

The Tall Tall Trees will be celebrating their Kickstarter Fundraiser at The Mercury Lounge on November 20th starting at 8 PM. Harlem folk rocker’s goal is to raise $12,000 to record their sophmore release. The band features Mike Savino on vocals and banjo, Kyle Sanna on guitar, Benjamin Campbell on bass and Mathias Kunzli but this is not your traditional folk group. Through the use of effects pedals on banjo and amplification they have managed to achieve a fresh sound that incorporates a mix of American Folk and rock elements with Brazilian and African music. The Tall Tall Trees musical chemistry and energetic live performances allow them to re-invent their songs on a nightly basis. They have spent years collaborating with such diverse acts as Moby, Yo Yo Ma and Vieux Farka Toure and can be compared to fellow NY acts such as Vampire Weekend and Dirty Projectors. For more information on The Tall Tall Trees visit their MYSPACE.

Tickets to The Mercury Lounge show are $10 and are available HERE

Metric Debuts Official “Black Sheep” Video

Metric promo photo

Canadian indie-rock band Metric has launched their official video for their single “Black Sheep” which appeared in the 2010 film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World as well as on the film’s soundtrack.  The launch of the video coincides with the release of the film on DVD and Blu-Ray on Tuesday, November 9th.

The high energy video was filmed during Comic-Con in San Diego this past July after a surprise screening of the movie.  In the video, Metric frontwoman Emily Haines bounces back and forth between her synthesizer and microphone stand while dazzling the audience with her engaging voice and spirited performance as the rest of the band, James Shaw, Josh Winstead & Joules Scott-Key, rock it out to what is a truly addictive song.

The music video was available for download at iTunes starting on Tuesday, November 9th but you can view it here right now.  The Scott Pilgrim vs. the World soundtrack is available now.
