Neon Indian Heads West (Mostly)

Upon the release of last year’s Psychic Chasms heard the indie world over, Neon Indian is setting out on a tour in support of the slew of remasters and remixes that further champion his original effort.  Chasms is being released as a newly mastered deluxe CD and double vinyl edition on September 28th, including remixes and covers from Toro Y Moi, Bibio, Javelin, and YACHT.

Fret not on the lack of new tunes, though, as Neon Indian just released the single, “Sleep Paralysist” on Green Label Sound.  Look forward to hearing the new track, which was produced by Palomo and Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor, on these dates:

The Radio Dept. Perform Their Citizen Duties With New Single, “The New Improved Hypocrisy”

The Radio Dept. The Radio Dept. don’t use their songs for specific political protests often but when they do, they make sure they don’t go unnoticed. After 2008’s “Freddie And The Trojan Horse,” about the Swedish Right-wing givernment, they are back this week with with “The New Improved Yypocrisy,” released only a few days before the next general election to the Swedish parliament, to be held on September 19th.

With lyrics such as “We don’t mind democracy/We have our ways around it/This new improved hypocrisy/Will help us to impound it,” you can be sure they have a very strong stance about things in their country are shaping out. Listen to it HERE.

Jer Coons Prepares Remix Album Release And First Headlining Club Tour

jer1Following up on the success of his debut album Speak, Jer Coons is about to release a remix EP called JERemix, featuring six completely transformed and edged out songs from his traditional, acoustic “Vermont Pop” full length. Coons remixed one of the songs himself and left the rest to his friends, while keeping an overseeing eye. The EP, out on Roll Call Records, should hit the stands in the early Fall.

Listen to “Speak” after its makeover, courtesy of Nash, right HERE to hear just how far from the original these remixed songs have come:

But Jer Coons isn’t stopping there; these remixes are going on the road as he will be performing them live throughout the Northeast this Fall during his first ever headlining club tour, with supporting guests Jesse Ruben and Seth Glier. He will drop his acoustic guitar and play solo with a myriad of samples and a loop station during a run that will take him from Boston, MA to Northampton, MA with a stop at The Studio at Webster Hall in New York City on October 6th. 10/1 – Nightcat – Easton, MD (with Jesse Ruben & Seth Glier)
