Nobody Gets Spoon But You

Spoon are releasing another song from their critical and commercial darling Transference, which came out earlier this year.

This time, the track getting the visual treatment is “Nobody Gets Me But You” a classic Spoon track that features amazingly catchy rhythms (as always) and a raw, stripped-down sound that adds grit.

The video is also appropriately low-tech. Britt Daniels explains that it is influenced from his experience at New York’s Cake Shop, which is a less than ideal concert locale. The video is filmed as if you are watching the band on the TV by the bar.

The Concretes Release Vowel-Free Album

Well…Unless you count Y. The Concretes released their newest album, WYWH, last week. The album features a new singer and a new label for the band, but the album still manages to sound like an evolved version of  The Concretes.

Drummer Lisa Milberg has stepped up for vocals duty and Friendly Fire Records will be bringing the release to a store near you (or Amazon).

To celebrate the occasion, the band has put out a new song from the album. The song “All Day” is a melodic piece of fuzz-pop that would have fit perfectly into the summer rotation for the beach. However it’s still pretty amazing in the midst of a chilly November.

You can check it out right here.

Tape The Radio Give Away A Track

Tape the Radio is feeling generous, and that’s good for you.

The band is giving away their b-side song “Suffer You, Suffer Me” from their recent single Our Love Is A Broken Heart. The download will cost you some time, because you need to register with Nokia’s new music website Ovi Music.

If you want to hear the single off…the single, you can listen to “Our Love Is A Broken Heart” right here as well.

The band has also just returned from Italy. If you’re feeling a tad jealous, watch their video diary. It may make you a little more jealous but it’s also awesome. You can find it here.

Another Week, Another Deerhoof Song

Indie-rockers Deerhoof have found a way to stretch out a CD release day into…a couple months.

The band, premiering one song a week until January 25th (when you get the whole CD), released the song “Must Fight Current” today. In addition, the band has given us the details of their upcoming tour which kicks off just after the holidays.

You can check out the newest song from the album right here.

Girl Talk’s New CD Is Cheaper Than Dirt

Well…store-bought dirt anyway.  The CD All Day is one of Girl Talk’s (aka Gregg Gillis) most complex to date, and it’s completely free. It measures in at 71 minutes and a mind-boggling 373 song samples.

You can download it for free. Just click HERE and the CD is almost yours. No emails, no required donations (although I’m sure he wouldn’t mind if you did donate).

It’s been a crazy year for Girl Talk already, playing Congress Theater in Chicago for New Years and hitting up the festival circuit. Gillis isn’t taking any breaks, either. He will be out on the road to support All Day throughout March. If you like the CD, you can go support Girl Talk and get an amazing show in the process. It’s a win win.

Masonic Plan To Live Like A Millionaire

Masonic’s fifth full-length, Live Like A Millionaire, was released on Tuesday. Featuring more of the band’s trademark fuzz pop along the lines of Stereolab and Yo La Tengo,  the album was funded through license fees from the Colorado State Lottery.

Now the band has released a couple tracks from their new album as a teaser. You can check out the tracks “Let’s Do It All Again” and “Lifetime of Deception” right here. Both feature the ambient yet incredibly catchy rhythms Masonic is known for, as well as the deeply layered keyboard and guitar melodies.
