The Strokes Drop New Video for “Undercover of Darkness,” Release Second Song on NME

If The Strokes didn’t get you all pysched with announcing a new album and following tour, they are certainly trying to entertain you now. The boys just released a video for the first single, “Undercover of Darkness.” This video is a little different for the band as it shows a more mature Strokes. Albert (sans Fro), Niko, Nick and Fab are all dressed up in suits as Julian is sporting the hipster-cool leather jacket look. Nice. The Strokes drop their long awaited record, Angles (BMG), on March 22nd and we have a feeling the fun isn’t going to stop anytime soon.

Oh wait! There’s more!

They just released a second song from the record titled “You’re So Right,” that you can stream exclusively on NME (where else?). Check out the new song HERE.

If this doesn’t get you excited, we don’t know what will.

Guards are currently on tour in Europe but before they make their way back to the US for a few dates at Austin’s South by South West festival, the band is giving out new songs out for free on their bandcamp page. Well, they’re not technically new songs; they are covers, but they are not any less inventive.

Below is one of the tracks you can download: a cover of M.I.A’s “Born Free”. The others (covers of Vampire Weekend and Metallica, no less) can be found HERE.

Empress Hotel Release A Colorful New Video

The premise for Empress Hotel’s new music video (for the song “Mach Bach”) started with left-over New Year’s balloons. The video features the band buried in over 1,500 glittery balloons, or enough to completely engulf their practice space.

The song is from the band’s upcoming self-titled EP, which will be out March 8th on Park The Van Records (home of Dr. Dog and the Spinto Band). To back their first EP, Empress Hotel will be touring the East Coast. This includes a couple days at SXSW (which isn’t really the East Coast, but whatever).

Check out the video for “Mach Bach” and if you want to see Empress Hotel, their tour schedule is after the video.
