Ryan Adams Announces European Tour

Remember when Ryan Adams said he was retiring forever? Well that didn’t last very long unless less than 3 years is forever. Today the shaggy haired rocked announced that he was heading out on a European tour in June without The Cardinals. All of the shows will be solo-acoustic sets. Ryan is also working on a new record with producer Glyn Johns, so of course in Adams fashion there are sure to be some new songs hitting the road with him. Ryan, it’s good to have you back. Diamond Doves Release Tracks Into The Wild

Diamond Doves have just released their very first songs as a group. The band put out three talks this week in celebration of the news that the band has a residency with Brooklyn’s The Rock Shop during March.

The members of Diamond Doves cut their (musical) teeth playing and recording with Elvis Perkins as Elvis Perkins in Dearland. The trio have given everyone the chance to hear their unique sound, which you can get right here. Doves will also be touring with the Felice Brothers. Look for their schedule after checking out the tasty, fresh-from-the-oven songs.

Interpol Release Free EP, Goes On Tour, Loses Dave Pajo in the Midst

Things are looking up and down for Interpol. Should we start with the bad news first? Dave Pajo who recently replaced the infamous Carlos D. last year, has just stated that he is out of the band. Pajo explained in a press release that “I’ll be taking a break from touring to focus on family. There are no personal, artistic or health reasons– it’s really as simple as that!” Though the statement on his Facebook the next day makes us think that he has something else in store for the music world as it reads “Thank you, friends, for all your kind words of support and well-wishes!!! Exciting news ahead, stay posted.” Currently Brad Truax from Soliders of Fortune who just put out a release on Mexican Summer (the same label that houses Best Coast) will be taking over bass duties for the band.

In happier news for the band, in the midst of an international tour, they have just put out a North American TourEP which also features the openers on the dates, School of Seven Bells and Matthew Dear. You can download the goodies right HERE.

The Fresh & Only’s Keep it Busy

The Fresh & Only’s make other musicians seem downright lazy.  As if touring were an excuse to not have to write new songs and you can just coast along playing the same setlist for two years before you get your ass back in the studio and find that you can’t recapture relevancy.  This San Francisco band don’t waste any time in the studio, recently recording their arguably greatest release yet, Play It Strange, in one week.  The hastiness was supposedly due to the band attempting to invigorate their studio work with the energetic and spooky nuances they pull off live.  From seeing a headlining New Year’s Eve show in The City with Sonny and the Sunsets, The Only’s can be refreshingly good and bad, but never boring — Much like Robert Pollard, this trait suits their prolific nature.

Of Montreal Announce Spring Tour (Yay!), Talk New Album

Though we are in the midst of awaiting another snow storm in New York, our favorite glam rockers Of Montreal are already warming things up by announcing their spring tour. The band has a few more dates coming up this month and then the party kicks off all over again in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Like all other Of Montreal tours, there will be plenty of costumed players and stage props around that will fill the stage. What new chapter the tale will take is up in the air but we are sure that Kevin’s brother, the infamous David Barnes, has something great cooking up as usual.

After this tour, Barnes and co. will head back into the studio to start working on the follow up to last years’ False Priest (Polyvinyl), in their “never rest,” fashion. New songs are already slated to be played on tour as well as old favorites, and covers. The next record Barnes admits to being inspired by the newest Sufjan Stevens release The Age of Adz. Go figure. The band will release the EP The Controller Sphere (Polyvinyl) which will be available on tour. Check out the tour dates below and get out your glitter!

Bright Eyes Returns with New Album This Winter!

Conor Oberst fans rejoice! Bright Eyes is BACK! The group will release their newest, and 7th album on February 15, 2011 via Saddle Creek. Titled The People’s Key, will feature ten new tracks from the Oberst, Mike Mogis, Nathaniel Walcott trio.

Additional players on the record include Andy LeMaster, (Now It’s Overhead), Matt Maginn (Cursive), Carla Azar (Autolux), Clark Baechle (The Faint), Shane Aspegren (The Berg Sans Nipple), Laura Burhenn (The Mynabirds) and Denny Brewer (Refried Ice Cream).

What will this sound like you may ask…well we guess it’s too early to tell. The follow-up to Cassadega (Saddle Creek) was a long wait as Oberst dabbled in solo projects and super groups. This could also be the last Bright Eyes record if anyone recalls Conor stating that a few years ago. We will have to wait and see for sure.

Bright Eyes have just announced two shows to get us even more excited about the album release. One at Radio City Music Hall in New York City and the other at Royal Albert Hall in London. You can find the information regarding those shows below. The pre-sales begin TOMORROW, so be sure to have your mouse clicker finger ready.
