A New How-To from Make Out

Make Out is a new exciting pop collaboration consisting of former Junior Senior member Jesper Mortensen and step daughter of New York Dolls’ David Johansen: Leah Hennessey along with Portland, Oregon native/music veteran Olivia Alminiana on drums and Anders Christiansen on bass.

Make Out is a refreshing diversion from today and recent years’ music trends. Instead of experimental soundscapes or conceptual lyrics it’s just fast, sexy punk and pop rants. The new video for their first single “I Don’t Want Anybody That Wants Me” is nothing but four young, hot, colorfully clad guys and gals rocking out behind vibrant floral images, harkening an early 90’s MTV aesthetic.

Make Out just played the Bowery Ballroom in Manhattan on March 16th and 17th with The New York Dolls, sure to be a raunchy, high energy rock show. Their debut EP, How To, was just released February 22.

Make Out Offer “How To” EP

“Right from the beginning we’ve had the exact same idea of what a new, exciting band should be,” says Jesper Mortensen of his new band Make Out. After the dissolution of Mortensen’s last group, Junior Senior, he teamed with vocalist Leah Hennessey and began working on what would become the band’s forthcoming debut EP.

Due out on February 22nd, How To is comprised of 3 tracks, including the band’s first single “I Don’t Want Anybody That Wants Me.” Head over to Spin to download that track and read more about the group.

New York’s MAKE OUT Is Set To Release Their Debut EP In Early 2011

Drawing on their eclectic backgrounds, the quartet intentionally makes music against the mainstream grain as they see it, eschewing contemporary indie sounds. MAKE OUT plays fast, concentrated pop songs as evident in their first single releasing December 14th, the anthemic, “I Don’t Want Anybody That Wants Me.”

Formed in 2010, MAKE OUT features Leah Hennessey on vocals, former Junior Senior member, Jesper Mortensen on backing vocals and guitar, Anders Christiansen on bass and Olivia Alminiana on drums.

MAKE OUT was excited to work with producer Nicolas Vernhes (Dirty Projectors, Animal Collective, The Fiery Furnaces) at his Rare Book Room studios in Brooklyn, feeling an instant connection and shared vision for what the band should sound like.
