Cloud Nothings Present New Track From New Album, “Should Have”

January 25th, 2011, the release date for Cloud Nothings’ self-titled album on Carpark, is getting closer and closer and after giving us a first teaser of what it sounds like with the premiere of the the song “Understand At All,” we’re given a second excerpt. This song is called “Should Have” and will be out as a 7″ picture disc single on January 28th, 2011. It sounds like those rock songs you love as a teen, except with a little more whimsy both in the vocals and the arrangements but without that pretend-roughness we took for rebel attitude.
Take a listen below:

Cloud Nothings also have a few dates lined up for the end of the month and January so check out below if they’ll be stopping anywhere near you!

Cloud Nothings + Kevin Greenspon Split

Having released the original two versions of 19 year old Cleveland musician Dylan Baldi, aka Cloud Nothings’ first album Turning On on his label Bridgetown Records last year, Kevin Greenspon has now created a split with the budding artist.

The split begins with five songs by Greenspon, featuring Travis von Sydow/Ancient Crux on drums and includes a cover of “No Paws”. Cloud Nothings then ends the track list with five tracks that are not on the re-issue of the Carpark/Witchita re-issue of Turning On.

Only 250 of these limited edition splits are currently being released, including full color inserts and a lyrics sheet.

Cloud Nothings Release New Single, “Understand At All”

Cloud Nothings just came out with a dreamy new song. The band started only a year ago with Dylan Baldi making lo-fi rock out of his parent’s basement outside of Cleveland. In the past year Cloud Nothings has released an EP, singles and made their way on tour coast to coast. Not bad for only a year on their own. “Understand It All” is from Cloud Nothings first self-titled full length, produced by Baltimore’s Chester Gwazda, known for his work with Dan Deacon and Future Islands.

Recorded at the home of Wham City, Baltimore’s Copycat Building, the scratchy catchy tune makes me desperately want to escape on a European holiday to see them with Les Savy Fav in Amsterdam on their upcoming tour. Dylan Baldi records all the tracks by his lonesome so let’s hope the live band keeps up the great energy. “Cloud Nothings” is released January 25th, 2011.
