Ámaris Wen Unveils “Time Traveler”

Ámaris Wen, also known artistically as Ámaris, is one of only a few female music producers who combines genres such as R&B, electronic, and neo soul, defining her music as genre-defying. She got into EDM when attending drama school for her dance studies. After working for Sony Music as a playlist manager, she took her music towards the synthetic pop and R&B route. She is a creative person who uses music as her outlet.  Her newest song, “Time Traveler,” is a song that beautifully blends genres and music into a unique sound that you won’t hear anywhere else. It’s a synthetic pop song that calls back to 80’s pop with R&B cohesively combined. It harks of Alicia Keys with some Madonna and Prince. She uses the electronic piano sounds to create a hypnotic beat and further uses it to create an echoing that vibrates throughout the song.

She creates a picture using music. Her use of the synthetic sound is unlike anything I’ve ever heard. She is able to show me color and art, a painting in my head as the song progresses, a masterpiece of sounds. Everytime the baseline makes a repetition is another stroke. Her voice adds the forefront. It’s soulful, powerful, moving, and gentle. It’s ambient and one of those voices that you could listen to for hours on end.

“Time Traveler” is a musical marvel and a must have on any playlist. She clearly knows what she’s doing and isn’t afraid to break barriers or genres. She does her own thing. You can tell by listening to her music, especially this song, that she enjoys music, it’s her passion; that creativity flows through her unlike any other artist. She understands music so well, it’s like she can hold it in her hand and mold it like clay. When she gives us music, we can hear her art.

Adalia Tara Unveils “Give It Up”

Adalia Tara is an award winning singer-songwriter and recording artist who solely writes music with meaning. She says “I feel it is my responsibility as an artist to reflect the times we are living in, to be a mirror, to shine a light on the truth of what’s happening around us. I hope my music gives people the courage to look inward, to question our motivation, and to ask ourselves why we live the way we do. I want to be a voice for all people, bringing more humanity and kindness into the world.” She gets inspiration from jazz, R&B, blues, and pop.

When she says she writes with meaning, she does not disappoint. The Arizona artist is at it again with her new single “Give It Up,” a brilliantly poetic and impassioned song that’s all too necessary in today’s climate. She says “This track is a response to the deeply rooted racial inequities that were brought to the light this year. If we want justice in the world, all voices need to be heard and respected, not just one. Humility, accountability and self-honesty are needed. Will we turn a blind eye, or will we use this difficult moment to create lasting change? The breakthrough comes when there is an equal playing field for everyone. This is what “Give it Up” is all about.”

“Give It Up” is a slow pop ballad with some hints of R&B with a slow beat and melodic piano. It’s a unique sound similar to that of John Legend and Demi Levato. While the music itself is powerful, the real magic of this song is the message. The lyrics are loud though they are sung softly. She sings vibrant verses like “give up comfort, give up being first, step aside now, let someone else be first” and “a sickness is rising to the surface, let it change you, let it have a purpose.” She’s evoking heavy emotions in just those two verses, grabbing our senses and showing us what needs to be seen. The song finishes with “step aside now, let someone else be heard” to send her message home.

“Give It Up” is nothing less than powerful, moving, and necessary. She doesn’t shy away from giving you herself and being vulnerable while also being extremely playful. While the pandemic got us all down, she continued to write and perform virtually. “Give It Up” comes out June 25th. Be sure to add it to your playlist.

Steven H. Scott Breaks Through with “Albino Road”

Steven H. Scott is breaking through the industry with his new single “Albino Road.” However, this is not his first time making music. Right out of high school he was in a progressive rock band called Salem, channeling artists like Rush and King Crimson. He played bass and provided the lead vocals. When that disbanded, he created a new progressive metal band in 2004 called Mindset X, which he is still part of and making music for. However, he always had another side to him.

“Albino Road” is based on a true story in North Andover, MA boasts an acoustically folksy sound reminiscent of Johnny Cash, with just a hint of jazz. He guides us through the tragic story of 2 young albino boys in the 1600’s that were drowned because they were different. He uses the acoustic guitar and the piano to show the sadness of the situation, saying “I envisioned a sort of story-telling campfire vibe where a lesson was supposed to be learned. But it wasn’t.”

The song starts with a burning match, a powerful symbol that tells the listener they are about to go on a journey. He repeats the same chords throughout the whole song to show us that, in fact, nothing has changed. He says “I’ve always loved poetry and the acoustic guitar so it made sense to venture down that path…This project was and is meant to be as naked, truthful and connecting as possible. There is something special about that simplicity.”

His lyrics are beyond powerful. They weigh on the listener, pointing the mirror right back on ourselves as he sings “How can we be so blind repeating the same shit all the time? And yet the world don’t seem to care, ignoring the ignorance we bear.” He is making us acknowledge the downside to our history, he forces us to see our naivety, our obliviousness, and our hypocritical nature as humans.

His poignant songwriting and soulful voice create a beautifully poetic piece, about that road where these two young innocent boys died. It’s a story that reflects all too well on where we are today. He tells us that we have work to do. “My only goal is to spark emotion for the listener. Whatever that may be.”

The Naysayers Go the Distance with New Single + Video

The Naysayers are a sub-arctic indie rock four piece from Whitehorse, Yukon with a new full-length album due for release on June 25 via Coax Records. Forged in the freezing cold, these boreal belles blend elements of punk, pop, and alt-rock, that feels like a punch in the gut and a warm embrace at the same time.

Led by veteran singer-songwriter Drea Nasager, her visceral lyrics, powerful vocals, and emotional intensity combine with rich melodies and unrelenting energy to create songs as spellbinding as the northern lights. “Yesterday” sees Drea grieving the living as she reconciles the death of someone who’s still alive. “It’s about watching someone you can’t reach,” she reveals. “They’re down a path you can’t follow. The song started as a goodbye to a friend, and evolved in meaning since I’ve lost others to addiction.”
