Feist’s album The Reminder was so great, they had to make a movie about it. Well, Look At What The Light Did Now is more about the collaboration between sound and imagery than just a Metallica-style “making an album” documentary, but it’s still damn cool.
Feist tells Pitchfork that she “wanted what’s in the movie to be things we’ve never seen before.” Explaining that “it focuses on the people whose job isn’t necessarily to be seen. Their part of the puzzle is to make imagery that gets seen, but they themselves are a bit invisible in the process. I wanted to show the smoke and mirrors a little bit.”
In her discussion with Pitchfork, Feist also mentioned that she will be making another album sometime this winter, but refused to elaborate any further. New Collisions are enjoying a very positive, steady stream of buzz lately and with good reason. The band got picked to be on the CMJ music sampler CD (only 20 bands of the 1,000 that play get to be on it) and recorded their debut LP (The Optimist) in under ten days.
The album has gotten solid reviews and was featured as a full album premier on AOL Spinner. Now the group is releasing their first music video. The music video for the song “Dying Alone” which you can catch here:

Indie-Rock superband Wolf Parade are taking some time apart, co-leader Spencer Krug told a Toronto audience. “This is the last show we’ll play for a long time,” he said according to Spinner.
Other co-leader Dan Boeckner also acknowledged the split, according to Pitchfork he told Wolf Parade’s fan site that the band will be taking an “indefinite hiatus” after “a few shows” and the band’s label, Sub Pop, confirmed the hiatus.
Whether this split is a permanent one is something we’ll have to wait and see. Until we know more, enjoy the song “Yulia” off of the band’s last release EXPO 86.
Synth-Pop outfit Neon Indian has unveiled their new video for the widely well-received single, “Mind, Drips.” Directed by Lars Larsen, the video features for the first time ever, the use of the LZX Visionary – a brand new piece of technology developed by Larsen and his partner Edward Leckie- which manipulates images in the same way a musical synthesizer does for sound. The resulting video is one that compliments the track perfectly, bringing to life the sounds of the song with incredibly vibrant colors and layered imagery. All visual effects were recorded in real-time, using techniques such as abstract pattern synthesis, video feedback, and analog compositing.
The video for “Mind, Drips” is in support of Neon Indian’s current album Psychic Chasms, released via FADER Label / Static Tongues earlier this year. Recently, Neon Indian released Mind Ctrl: Psychic Chasms Possessed, which contains nine bonus tracks consisting of exclusive remixes and cover versions by Toro Y Moi, DNTEL, Bibio, Javelin, YACHT, and more.
Neon Indian will be heading to Australia for the festival circuit before returning to the States in February to open for The Flaming Lips in Dallas, TX.

In a mix between VH1’s Storytellers and La Blogotheque, The Guest Apartment keeps things on a simpler side, much like its name. Miniature Tigers are one of the latest group to get the feature’s treatment, playing a miniature set comprised of a single guitar, plenty of harmonies, and the majority of the band taking up percussive roles. Tambourines tap, shakers shake, and the band talks about the creative process for songs they perform from their latest album, Fortress (Modern Art). You wouldn’t know it from these live renditions, but expect Fortress to exhibit some darker vibes. The band mentions gearing up to record by watching “The Shining” in a converted woodland 19th century church. Sound familiar? That’s because bands from Beach House to the B-52’s have shared the same recording space, not that you should expect the same output from this band.

The four boys of Radio Silence NYC are adding their voices to the fight against bullying with the help of DoSomething.org in their first music video for the song “Renegade.” The video, directed by Ron Jaramillo, opens with the sad statistic that 6 out of 10 American teens witness bullying at least once a day, and is a valuable call to teens everywhere to do their bit in order for it to stop. The song’s chorus says it clearly, “hatred is the enemy.”
