CSS Trade Labels

Brazillian sensation CSS have traded in their partnership with Sub Pop for a new label.

The group announced they have signed with V2/Cooperative Music/Downtown Records. They always say three names are better than one…or something.

The band will release their newest album August 29th. It’s called La Liberacion. Lovefoxxx, the singer for the band, said that her mantra for the new record is “rip shit.” Sounds like they want to get even louder.

Throughout the summer, CSS will be touring with fellow noisemakers Sleigh Bells. You can see them both here (but first I’d recommend some ear plugs).

Echo Lake Announce Debut EP ‘Young Silence’ On No Pain In Pop

Starting as a bedroom project between art students Thom Hill and Linda Jarvis, South London’s Echo Lake have barely reached the infancy of their musical careers. While still less than a year old, the band has started to make noise, garnering acclaim from Pitchfork and The Fader as a cross between pre-Sub Pop Beach House and a more raw My Bloody Valentine. Deciding to take some time off from art school, the band recorded their debut EP for label and blog No Pain In Pop, set for release February 14th (in the UK) and February 15th (in the US).

Tracklisting:
1. Sunday Evening
2. In Dreams
3. Everything Is Real

Sub Pop’s Mogwai Release New Video

Scotland’s Mogwai have been a steady stream of good music for the past 15 years. Proving they have no intention of slowing down, Mogwai and Sub Pop have released a video for their song “How to be a Werewolf.” When it comes to Werewolves, the Scottish should know a thing or two, having seen their fair share of the beast (though there are no lyrics, so you are free to draw your own conclusions on the nature of werewolves). The video features plentiful Norwegian landscapes, a good deal of fuzz on the guitar and a bearded gentleman riding a bike. Enjoy.

Wolf Parade Take A Break

6905

Indie-Rock superband Wolf Parade are taking some time apart, co-leader Spencer Krug told a Toronto audience. “This is the last show we’ll play for a long time,” he said according to Spinner.

Other co-leader Dan Boeckner also acknowledged the split, according to Pitchfork he told Wolf Parade’s fan site that the band will be taking an “indefinite hiatus” after “a few shows” and the band’s label, Sub Pop, confirmed the hiatus.

Whether this split is a permanent one is something we’ll have to wait and see. Until we know more, enjoy the song “Yulia” off of the band’s last release EXPO 86.
