“Lookout, Lookout” Here Comes Perfume Genius

On December 9th Perfume Genius released its new video for the single “Lookout, Lookout.”  The video was directed by Patrick Sher also directed the video for MOBY’s “Wait for Me.”  If you haven’t seen this video by now I would suggest making it a top priority on your to-do list.  It’s a very simple and realistic video but it definitely puts of the vibe of the complex emotions poured into the track.  You really can get a grasp of the song through the video.  I’m a firm believer in not allowing a Video to impact the actual music to any measure of extent but this one just spoke to all my insecurities, and I found myself responding to it more with the imagery, than without it.

The Crystal Ark Premiere New Video, “The City Never Sleeps”

The Crystal Ark, the duo project of singer Viva Ruiz and DFA’s synthesizer master Gavin Russom, premiered the video for their first 12″ release, “The City Never Sleeps,” available now on DFA Records, on FADER.

Viva Ruiz herself directed the video for this hypnotic dance song where zombie-like humans seemed to get resurrected by a goddess of the dance floor for a psychedelic finish. Added bonus: we get to see Gavin Russom show off his moves.

Oberhofer Prep for Tour with Live Sessions Release

Brooklyn based Oberhofer released two different radio sessions onto the interweb. Unfortunately, as far as we can tell, BreakThru Radio has already taken down the audio from their session with Oberhofer. Daytrotter’s, however, is still up. And, even better, its available for download. The Daytrotter session offers a  nice taste of the band’s music for new fans looking to hear more. The sessions’ closing number, “House,” is especially good.

Known for their live shows, Oberhofer will be hitting the road beginning in January. Said tour will see them playing with bands like Distractions, The Vaccines and Tapes N’ Tapes. Check out the list of dates below.

Feist Releases A Documentary

Feist’s album The Reminder was so great, they had to make a movie about it. Well, Look At What The Light Did Now is more about the collaboration between sound and imagery than just a Metallica-style “making an album” documentary, but it’s still damn cool.

Feist tells Pitchfork that she “wanted what’s in the movie to be things we’ve never seen before.” Explaining that “it focuses on the people whose job isn’t necessarily to be seen. Their part of the puzzle is to make imagery that gets seen, but they themselves are a bit invisible in the process. I wanted to show the smoke and mirrors a little bit.”

In her discussion with Pitchfork, Feist also mentioned that she will be making another album sometime this winter, but refused to elaborate any further. Look At What The Light Did Now is in stores now, and stay tuned for any other news about Feist’s upcoming album. In the mean time, check out the trailer for her documentary right here.

Wolf Parade Take A Break

6905

Indie-Rock superband Wolf Parade are taking some time apart, co-leader Spencer Krug told a Toronto audience. “This is the last show we’ll play for a long time,” he said according to Spinner.

Other co-leader Dan Boeckner also acknowledged the split, according to Pitchfork he told Wolf Parade’s fan site that the band will be taking an “indefinite hiatus” after “a few shows” and the band’s label, Sub Pop, confirmed the hiatus.

Whether this split is a permanent one is something we’ll have to wait and see. Until we know more, enjoy the song “Yulia” off of the band’s last release EXPO 86.
