Ghost Caravan is a group of collaborators led by Shaina Silver-Baird. Her “ghosts” are what inform the music that she writes. Whether they are the ghosts of specific people, the ghosts of past loves or the ghosts of experience, this caravan of ghosts is the origin of her songs.Ghost Caravan’s new single “Live Out Loud” is an electro-pop anthem for people who feel cast out for being different, for people who have something important to say and for people who want to live in full color and at full volume.
The music itself is orchestral soultronica. The Ghost Caravan live show mixes electronic elements with live instruments creating a sound that is cinematic and invigorating. “I want to continue to push in the direction of personal/poetic lyrics coupled with grand, dramatic tracks. I want to develop the soulful core along with the orchestral element. It’s such an exciting sound–very contemporary and yet derived from something deeper and older. I love how celebratory it is. It’s as if we get to see the world through glasses that make the colours a bit more vibrant and the moments a bit more joyous.And getting to play these songs live with an all-female band is an exciting, powerful experience.Plus, it’s just so damn fun!”
The Informations sound like a 3AM hazy jam between Scissor Sisters and Animal Collective. Their new single and video for “Strange Habits,” has quickly won the attention of our eyes and ears.
The Informations were created out of jealousy in Copenhagen 2009 by acclaimed/award wining Hip Hop/RnB producer Frederik Tao.
The Informations is the moniker under which Frederik Tao – a Danish producer and guitarist – creates timeless, adventurous music that sounds like lost albums from our youth, bands from countries that never existed, melodies and lyrics from our dreams.
As part of a rising scene with his band The William Blakes, Tao was producing hit records and running a successfully record label, but something was missing. .
“I was getting a little frustrated with working within the framework of producing “hits” and all my friends and band mates around me had these cool free spirit indie projects on the side, so I said, f##k it, what if I just try and do my best to do everything what i normally wouldn´t” tells Frederik who began exercise, a way to explore musical languages, while remaining shrouded behind an ever evolving biography of a band that didn’t exist.
Not long after uploading the first tracks onto a mysterious myspace, requests started coming from The Phillipines, USA, UK and basically all over the world. How people found the music was always a riddle to Tao, who saw it all as midway between a joke and a lab experiment. The people who started writing him were few but they were all dedicated, as if they’d found not another good band, but the one band that could overshadow everything else. Their fervor was inspiring.
So Tao decided to do an entire album with some help from two bandmates from The William Blakes, and ended up playing everything on the album from drums, guitar, bass, keys and vocals
Soon after its release in Denmark offers from international high profiled and respected record labels started coming in followed quickly by outrageous offers from European festivals… everything was escalating quickly – For many this would be like a dream come true, but at the same time it felt overwhelming and slightly terrifying for Tao, whos intentions never went beyond the creative exercise. The lab experiment was a success but the results were unpredicted- so everything froze and The Informations became a myth. It would take a decade for the music to resurface again.
Luckily The Informations are still one of the most intriguing voices out there. So it goes with timeless, adventurous music that sounds like lost albums from our youth, bands from countries that never existed, melodies and lyrics from our dreams. Frank Moyo is a slow player in a fast world. His new single “Friend of Mine,” is one for the masses with a gorgeously crafted feel, melody and lyricism to boot.
The Canadian-Italian singer, songwriter and guitarist serenades like a busking bard of the 21st century. His Waves EP and singles “OK Dolce” and “West End” have already cultivated a reputation for Moyo in his hometown. But describing the singer as a suave, smooth and sultry voice with soft hands on the strings is too simple. Discussing feeling with the artist is more candid. “I want people to be able to imagine they are on a beach in Italy when listening to my music,” he says. But while one track might take you to the beach, “another may take you into a car going 180 miles per hour.” Growing up in Toronto Moyo first learned chords as a child, picking up what he could from family, friends and later the live shows he could get into. It wasn’t long until his bandmates and him we’re sneaking into their own performances. With a taste that meanders from Motown to James Brown and Isaac Hayes to Italian icons like Lucio Dalla and Toto Cutugno, Moyo’s sound is hard to pin down. The folk- informed rhythms that Moyo employs on tracks like “OK Dolce” mingle with pop sensibilities and the laws of ancient attraction that seem as rooted in Greek mythology as they do Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues”. As things speed up in an industry that’s begging to slow down, Frank Moyo is a voice of reason, and it sounds good.
Fí is here to stay….and we are head over heels. The artist, based in Dublin, Mullingar to be exact, has outdone herself once again with a small re-invention of herself. Her latest single comes to us in the form of “All I Have,” a banger of a track that shows Fí”s true heart and soul that goes into her music. For those who adore artists such as Lorde, Tove Lo and Halsey, Fí’ is about to be your favorite new artist.
She shares with the world of the song:
“All I Have’ was written a year and a half ago and was mid during a writing session was introduced. The song’s production is to make it feel like a memory; the choppy weird vocals, with a real voice memo at the start and countless references to the past, Christmas, sweater, unanswered questions and just the feelings of excitement, which is commonplace when you first meet someone. There’s all those emotions after something ends but this not a ‘hate you’ song, it’s more a song about realizing it takes time to get over things and sometimes you’re always going to have those memories and reminders that you’ll miss. Sometimes you do not get the answers you want and maybe that’s a blessing in disguise.”
“All I Have,” is an epic endeavor that brings the spirit of her music to life. We were instantly drawn in by her dreamy vocals, and heartfelt songwriting that blends perfectly with the instrumentation of the track.
