“Along the Way: The Journey Begins” is the debut release of Peter Hlavin, also known to his fans as Journeyman which he shared on the first of February 2020.

Hlavin wasn’t wrong when choosing his artist name, because we have never had an artist take us on such an extensive and colorful journey, musically. With extremely different and unique vocalists on each track of this album, Journeyman is the visionary behind each song, with his mission to bring joy through music to all who are on a path of their own, and walking in the midst of their own journey… because if you think about it- aren’t we all?

Journeyman is an eclectic artist, mastering tracks in various different genres, it’s hard to put this artist in one single genre box, so we won’t even attempt to.

When listening to this album, it feels as though we are on a journey around the world, listening to different artists, at different levels of their career, in a lane of their own. As almost any and all music has the ability to do, this album makes you feel at home, comfortable yet excited to get into the next song, and join in on the journey with the next featured artist.

It’s as if our favorite artist did a feature album, and brought in brand new artists who you have never heard of, yet have fallen in love with them from the second you heard the first note sung. Journeyman is a master at choosing features to be in his project, and we have full trust in him and his musical capabilities. Nashville artist Matty Ride is gearing up for a ton of new releases this year. The first of many, “Lower Case Love” was released along with an awesome video that we got the chance to get Matty’s insights on. Read his answers below!

Happy Freuds is one of our favorite gems of the year. Releasing the new single “Why,” the track was written by award winning Spanish poet and author, Fernando Garcia, who is a major fan of the band. The group who currently hails from Spain, puts Rock n’ Roll back on the map.

“During a concert in Valencia 2 years back, we met Fernando, who attended our concert. Establishing a friendship bridging both generations and music. Fernando has since been a strong support of the Happy Freuds music. Publicly stating things like “among the best band coming from Spain the last years”.

Early December, we drove to Valencia to attend one of his first public performances in long time at a very small venue on the backstreets of Valencia. There Fernando performed WHY. Less than 24 hours later, back home in the studio, we played it more or less straight through and got it recorded. Low key production and yet, such a brilliant track.”

The track is a full on musical explosion,  that shows the very essence of the band. They bring to life the music and hard hitting rock of the 70s and 90s, as their music comes to life within every note. It’s raw and real, and in your face…in the best possible way. Swirling instrumentation carry throughout the song that brings the very essence of the band to life.

“Why” is taken from the group’s upcoming full length album that should see the light of day this year….and are ears are ready for more.

Forces became a band in 2017 after the duo closed the book on a whirlwind decade of recording and touring with their former band, The Golden Dogs. That trip took them all over the world to support great artists such as Sloan, Feist, Bloc Party, Libertines, Kaiser Chiefs, Thurston Moore, and more. “Step In A Sway” is the duo’s second single and a foray into layering tracks with metronomic, percussive loops, as opposed to the traditional power-pop approach of recording they were used to.

The name ‘Forces’ implies a literal “joining of forces” between Dave and I, each contributing our power into doing the thing we love to do most: making music, together. But, it’s also rooted in our love of joining forces with our musical community, and our passion for creating experiences for our friends to play and perform together. “‘Step in a Sway’—our second single, but the first we recorded—felt to us like a true departure both in style and attitude. It was our foray into layering tracks with metronomic, percussive loops, as opposed to the traditional power-pop approach of recording we were used to, a bed-track with drums, bass & guitar,” Forces shares. Britt is the pop alias of acclaimed composer and Emmy-winning actor Brittany Allen. She is self taught in music production, and writes, produces, and mixes all of her own tracks. Britt wrote and produced her new single “Looking For Another” – a synth-driven electro pop track about feeling uncertain about your identity. Britt also co-directed and edited a video to pair with the song, which explores the idea of young women holding themselves to unattainable standards.

Allen is the composer of the indie hit What Keeps You Alive, (IFC) the third film she and partner (filmmaker Colin Minihan) collaborated on, which Allen also starred in. The film premiered at SXSW, was named a NYTimes Critics Pick and one of Rolling Stone’s Top Ten Horror Films of 2018. Allen’s score was released through Lakeshore Records and on vinyl by Burning Witches Records, and was featured on Vulture – alongside some of the genre’s top contemporary composers – Entertainment Weekly and CBC Q. Her second feature score, for the soon to be released “Z” won “best score” at the Sin City Film Festival, and will premiere on AMC’s streaming service, SHUDDER this Spring. A recent write up wrote that “Z’s secret weapon is Brittany Allen, who provides a soul-tugging score and created the unsettling artwork for the film’s imaginary friend.” Allen heads to SXSW again this year to support her most recent composing venture, with the film “Selfie”. Before shifting her sights to music, Allen built a vast resume of work as an actor on both sides of the border. Most recently, she played fan-favorite Popclaw, on Amazon’s hit show “The Boys” from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. She was also opposite Taylor Schilling in “The Prodigy” and in the latest installment of the cult SAW franchise, “Jigsaw”. Her first two films with her partner Colin Minihan, “Extraterrestrial” and “It Stains The Sands Red” premiered at Tribeca and Los Angeles Film Festival, respectively. After starting her acting career as a kid in Toronto, on shows such as Bomb Girls, Schitt’s Creek, The Listener, Falling Water, Taken, Allen’s first big break in the US came when she landed a regular role on the long-running soap opera All My Children. She went on to win an Emmy Award for her work on the show. Allen is a multi-hyphenate of the truest sense, an artist who is just beginning to show her multitude of colours.

Vancouver-based OurGlassZoo released their debut EP in 2017 and are following with a new album set for release in early 2020. Lead single “Astronaut” is an electro-rock track that’s been paired with a video that takes place in a futuristic setting, but the concept is most relevant in today’s time.

A fresh mix of electronic rock with a few drops of synth pop are the secret ingredients of the Vancouver-based band ‘OurGlassZoo.” Their debut EP made it to the semi-finals of the biggest on-line songwriting competition (ISC) which featured high end judges such as Lorde, Kaskade, Tom Waits and the late Chris Cornell. The songs ‘Somehow Somewhere’ and ‘Listen’ got radio play in both Italy and the UK in 2018. The new album was recorded at Monarch Studios with Juno award winning producer Tom Dorbzanski (‘The Zolas’) and will be released through Sony Orchard in early 2020. The single ‘Astronaut’ will feature the band’s first official music video, which stars Georgie Daburas from the Netflix show ‘Sabrina’ and Karissa Ketter (‘Kim Possible’), who was nominated for a Joey award for her performance in the video. OurGlassZoo will perform in music festivals including ‘UpTown’ in summer and booked a Canadian tour with LiveActs next year.
