Masonic Plan To Live Like A Millionaire

Masonic’s fifth full-length, Live Like A Millionaire, was released on Tuesday. Featuring more of the band’s trademark fuzz pop along the lines of Stereolab and Yo La Tengo,  the album was funded through license fees from the Colorado State Lottery.

Now the band has released a couple tracks from their new album as a teaser. You can check out the tracks “Let’s Do It All Again” and “Lifetime of Deception” right here. Both feature the ambient yet incredibly catchy rhythms Masonic is known for, as well as the deeply layered keyboard and guitar melodies.

Acid House Kings Return with “Music Sounds Better With You”

Pop-darlings Acid House Kings released one of the most critically acclaimed pop albums in 2005 with the release of Sing Along With Acid House Kings. As Allmusic said waaay back then, “It all adds up to one of the best releases, indie or not, of 2005.”

Well, six long years have passed with no sign of the sequel…until now. Acid House Kings have released a new single off of their anxiously awaited upcoming album Music Sounds Better With You.

The album will be here on March 22nd, but luckily the song “Are We Lovers or Are We Friends” is out now.

Featuring some of the most sugary pop in recent years, the song shows that while years have passed, Acid House Kings have not missed a beat.

Check it.

Of Montreal Want You To Mess With Their Song

Of Montreal want to see if you you’ve got the skills to put together a better song than they could. The band is offering $500 and their entire digital discography to the winning remix of the song “Famine Affair.”

Winner will be chosen by popular vote, and you can check out all the rules and download stems of the song right here.

The band has also released a music video for the song, their latest single off of their album False Priest. The video features…well, a lot of girls. And one guy. Honestly I have no clue what’s going on in this house. Check it out and see what you think it’s about right here.

Rewards, Aaron Pfenning of Chairlift Adds New Tour Dates

With main project Chairlift on the sidelines for now, co-founder Aaron Pfenning has been keeping himself busy performing solo work under his own name and as Rewards. As the latter, with his deep, breathy baritone layered in (you guessed it) “sunny reverb-drenched guitar hooks and puffy surges of synthesizer” it makes perfect sense that Mr. Pfenning recently completed a leg of his European tour opening for Brandon Flowers of The Killers. Now it looks like Rewards will be staying busy for the rest of 2010, as he’s just announced additional dates in Europe and North America, first with current tour mates We Are Scientists and culminating in a five day run with rising act Warpaint.

Delicate Steve Reveals “Wondervisions” Cover Art + Tracklisting & Tour News!

“Delicate Steve makes music. And in today’s awful world, that’s almost all that matters. Right?” So concludes the wordy, is-it-a-joke press release from this New Jersey-based instrumental outfit comprised of five friends all in their early twenties. Such starry-eyed naivete is precious coming from the likes of band leader and multi-instrumentalist Steve Marion who is, after all, delicate. Whether the fact that Mr. Marion and his young cohorts make music is indeed all that matters is yet to be determined, however, but may be soon as the band has released the cover art and track listing from it’s debut LP, Wondervisions, set to be released February 1st on Luaka Bop records.
