The Wombats Release Free Single, “Addicted To The Cure”

While final details on The Wombats’ highly anticipated sophomore album are still pending, the UK trio’s momentum towards the April 26th U.S. release date of This Modern Glitch on Bright Antenna/ILG continues with the free download of the infectiously energetic new track, “Addicted To The Cure.” The club-friendly track features frontman Murph presenting himself with a cigarette in his mouth, in a room strewn with used nicotine patches, asking “When did we get addicted to the cure?” When, indeed!

This Modern Glitch features production by Rich Costey (Muse, Interpol, Franz Ferdinand), Jacknife Lee (U2, Snow Patrol, R.E.M.), and Eric Valentine (Queens of the Stone Age). The collection includes both recent Top 20 UK hit “Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)” – with an accompanying video that has reached over 1.2 million plays – and the successful follow-up single, “Jump Into The Fog.”

The band is about to start an already-sold out UK tour next month, with word on a US tour to be released later in the spring.

The Strokes go all Escher for Angles cover

The Strokes have finally unveiled what is to grace the cover of their hotly-anticipated/jesus christ, it’s finally coming out fourth album, Angles.  Take a good look up there, because those groovy,  impossible stairs are a long way developed from this.  The impossible stairs, of course, were made famous by Dutch graphic artist and Knight of the Order Orange-Nassau, M.C. Escher.  Let’s hope the cover isn’t symbolic of The Strokes seemingly reaching new heights but then realizing they’re actually right back where they started.

I wouldn’t worry about that too much based on this:

The Booze Announce New Album, Free MP3 and Tour

These days, it’s not enough to merely claim The Rolling Stones and The Kinks as influences. Everyone loves The Stones and Kinks, thanks to Martin Scorsese and Wes Anderson films, respectively, just like every band claims to be influenced by such 60’s and 70’s music. Yet, The Booze make it all believable. Having toured as Muddy Waters Jr.’s backing band and opening act, this Southern Rock outfit have etched out their own soundmarrying a motherlode of 60s R&B/Mod with a Stonesy switchblade swagger.” My Old Kentucky Blog.
