Detroit indie-pop outfit Prussia are known for their energetic arrangements and catchy harmonies, having honed their skills touring with such bands as Beach House and Dr. Dog. Their upcoming release, Poor English, looks to expand on this style while incorporating a darker tone to their lyricism. To promote this album, the group will embark on a North American tour including a show in their home state of Michigan with tUnE-YaRdS!
Damon and Naomi, two artists who have worked collaboratively and independently since the 80’s including the band Galaxie 500 are releasing another album together, False Beats and True Hearts coming out March 17th on their own label, 20/20/20. For a single off the album, “And You Are There,” they enlisted artist and filmmaker Chris Marker to provide the visual accompaniment to the track. You can’t really call it a video because it is a single still image and a pretty literal interpretation of the song’s concept as articulated by Naomi in Wired Magazine, the host that premiered the audio/visual partnership. That idea being losing oneself in and being consumed by a memory. That notion is close to Marker’s creative mind as his film La Jatee was the inspiration and catalyst for Terry Gilliam’s 12 Monkeys and likewise for Damon and Naomi’s new musical work of art.
Junip has teamed with Jose Gonzalez to embark on a huge North American tour, including a stop at Bonnaroo.
Junip recently released a new EP, In Every Direction, which was made up of remixes and unreleased tracks. You can hear one of those tracks, “Nackrosdammen” right here!
The band has also released a new video for their song “In Every Direction” which was directed by the band’s drummer, Elias Araya, who took inspiration from his father (Kent Karlsson). Check it out right here, and if you want to catch Junip and Jose Gonzalez on tour, they will be:
