Hopewell Announce Live Album

Hopewell have been rocking eardrums for the better part of a decade with their fuzz-pop sound, so it’s a bit odd that they’re just deciding to release their first live album now.

Luckily for us, the live album , Hopewell Live has been split into two volumes. Volume I features the band as they are today, a gigantic creature with two drummers and multiple instrumentalists. The band used recordings from their three-night Truck Festival America performance from earlier this year.

On the contrary, Volume II set to be released early next year, hearkens back to a youthful Hopewell. It features more of the band’s earlier material and was recorded by the band’s original lineup.

Coincidentally, the band has also announced that they’re going on tour with The Dandy Warhols this fall. You can check them out live here.

Casiokids Return To U.S. This Weekend

casiokidsCasiokids may have had good reason to cancel the remaining (a once in a life-time show), but they are making it up. The quartet will be back in the states for a select slew of shows.

The band spent the summer winning respect from pop veterans a-ha, even wining some cash from a fund started by the pop stars to help Norway’s up-coming pop stars. After winning the contest, the band was invited to play one of a-ha’s farewell shows in Norway.

The band will be playing a few shows this week all over the country, even taking part at Filter magazine’s Culture Collide festival in Los Angeles.

As if making amends for their canceled shows, the band recently release their newest single “En Vill Hest,” along with two remixes and their music video.

10/3 – Brooklyn, NY – Glasslands Gallery
10/5 – San Francisco, CA – Bottom of the Hill

Girl Talk To Release New Year’s Eve Documentary

Do you remember how you celebrated the new millennium?  No matter how much fun you  had that night, I guarantee Girl Talk had more.

For the 4,500 full-capacity crowd at the Congress Theater in Chicago, Girl Talk (aka Gregg Gillis) had a two story, five room house built on stage. Yes, he built a house. On stage.

The house had a kitchen, with a fridge (which had a note on the door) as well as a bathroom (with shower and sink) and two bedrooms.

At first, the house was dimly lit. But as it got closer to midnight, more and more lights began to turn on until the clock struck twelve. Then the kitchen turned into a dance floor while the bathroom  had a strobe that flashed any color.

Holy cow. Now he’s released a DVD documentary of the experience. You can see a preview right here.

Girl Talk has been touring relentlessly since the release of Feed The Animals in June of 2008. Now, after almost 240 shows he is planning his next album, which should be around sometime in 2011.

If you want to catch Girl Talk (house or no house), you can see him…

Fri. Oct. 29 – Asheville, NC @ MoogFest

Sat. Nov. 20 – Sao Paulo, Brasil @ Planeta Terra Festival w/ Smashing Pumpkins, Pavement
