Happy Strokes Day!

It’s been 5 years too long since The Strokes have released a record. Today, their long awaited 4th album Angles (BMG) comes out today, and it is already on the way to becoming a hit. We are celebrating The Strokes all day at Modern Mystery and are super excited about it. Enjoy!

The Strokes Take Over Saturday Night Live

The Strokes took over Saturday Night Live this weekend! The band performed two songs, the first single from Angles, “Undercover of Darkness,” and a new unheard track from the upcoming LP titled “Life is Simple in the Moonlight.” If these two tracks are a taste of the what the full record has to offer, this makes us even more excited. If thats possible. Watch the videos below!

The Strokes Drop New Video for “Undercover of Darkness,” Release Second Song on NME

If The Strokes didn’t get you all pysched with announcing a new album and following tour, they are certainly trying to entertain you now. The boys just released a video for the first single, “Undercover of Darkness.” This video is a little different for the band as it shows a more mature Strokes. Albert (sans Fro), Niko, Nick and Fab are all dressed up in suits as Julian is sporting the hipster-cool leather jacket look. Nice. The Strokes drop their long awaited record, Angles (BMG), on March 22nd and we have a feeling the fun isn’t going to stop anytime soon.

Oh wait! There’s more!

They just released a second song from the record titled “You’re So Right,” that you can stream exclusively on NME (where else?). Check out the new song HERE.

If this doesn’t get you excited, we don’t know what will.

The Pierces Release “Love You More”

the pierces

The Pierces, a New York based band composed of Catherine and Allison Pierce, are definitely doing a good job creating hype for their upcoming record. Their lead single, “Love You More” is a clear continuation of The Pierces’ style of dark lyrics and themes but at the same time you can hear how country has become inspiration for the sisters.  Top of the line producers such as Coldplay bassist Guy Berryman and Grammy Award winning producer Rik Simpson are now working on their upcoming album. The sisters also collaborated with Matt Romano from Little Joy and Albert Hammond Jr. from The Strokes, which will definitely provide more of a rock feel to their tracks. The still unnamed album was recorded in Coldplay’s studio in London and in Electric Lady Studios in New York City. Now there are visuals to go along with the lead single, as the Pierces released a music video to “Love You More”. This Tarantino-esque clip takes us to a desert where the siblings drive around and get revenge from an old lover, like a pyromaniac version of Thelma and Louise. Check out the fiery video under the cut!
