Les Savy Fav Release New Album and Video

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Les Savy Fav: their 2007 release, Let’s Stay Friends, earned them critical buzz and highly coveted spots on many year-end lists. The Brooklyn band has picked up where they left off with critics, receiving rave reviews for their latest LP, Root For Ruin, released in September on Frenchkiss Records. Unlike the roster of guest stars included on Let’s Stay Friends, Root For Ruin finds the band working as a quintet once again. Guitarist Seth Jabour described their latest recording as revelatory, explaining that “it turns out we enjoy making love to one another more than with a group of strangers.” The raw energy and jangled guitars that Les Savy Fav are known for are still there, and on Root For Ruin you can actually hear the guys getting comfortable with their own legacy as indie rock veterans.

The lead single from Root For Ruin, “Let’s Get Out Of Here” now has an amazing video to accompany the track. Check it out below, along with a handful of tour dates to close out the year:

Of Montreal Want You To Mess With Their Song

Of Montreal want to see if you you’ve got the skills to put together a better song than they could. The band is offering $500 and their entire digital discography to the winning remix of the song “Famine Affair.”

Winner will be chosen by popular vote, and you can check out all the rules and download stems of the song right here.

The band has also released a music video for the song, their latest single off of their album False Priest. The video features…well, a lot of girls. And one guy. Honestly I have no clue what’s going on in this house. Check it out and see what you think it’s about right here.

Internet Stops For New OK Go Video

A brand new video premiered this morning from internet darlings OK Go. You’ve seen them dancercise in “A Million Ways”, show of their prized pooches in “White Knuckles” and this year alone wrack up UK Video Music Awards for “Best Rock Video” and “Best Video of the Year” with their mind boggling Rube Goldberg machine making “This Too Shall Pass”. Today they released their first ‘animated’ video for the tune “Last Leaf’.

In partnership with Samsung, the band “ expressed interest in working with Nadeem Mazen and Ali Mohammad, founders of Serious Business Design, on an animation idea they’d been dreaming up, and after some dialogue, Samsung turned OK Go loose with its latest innovation in premium camera technology, the Samsung NX100 camera. Each second of the video is a sequence of fifteen Samsung NX100 photographs, which OK Go, shot with Mazen, Mohammad and a crew of interns.” The video is premiering via Myspace and at www.okgo.net/lastleaf. The band will be appearing on ‘The Today Show’ premiering a video starring them with the Today Show’s Hosts on November 18th. Metric Debuts Official “Black Sheep” Video

Metric promo photo

Canadian indie-rock band Metric has launched their official video for their single “Black Sheep” which appeared in the 2010 film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World as well as on the film’s soundtrack.  The launch of the video coincides with the release of the film on DVD and Blu-Ray on Tuesday, November 9th.

The high energy video was filmed during Comic-Con in San Diego this past July after a surprise screening of the movie.  In the video, Metric frontwoman Emily Haines bounces back and forth between her synthesizer and microphone stand while dazzling the audience with her engaging voice and spirited performance as the rest of the band, James Shaw, Josh Winstead & Joules Scott-Key, rock it out to what is a truly addictive song.

The music video was available for download at iTunes starting on Tuesday, November 9th but you can view it here right now.  The Scott Pilgrim vs. the World soundtrack is available now.
