Hailing from Canada, Robbie Agnew is certainly a gem in the current music scene. Alongside his new single “Slipping Away,” which has captured our attention, his blissful sound is an artistic creation that you will not soon forget. “Slipping Away,” is the perfect first taste of the artist, as he has new music coming down the pipeline in the coming weeks. Not your typical love song, “I Got Your Six” is a track written by artist Moose about he and his wife living as secret undercover international spies. The cutest part? Moose has written these songs for his wife of 12 years every Valentine’s day.

The track starts out with a very futuristic message, detailing the mission Moose and his wife must go on next. It’s filled with funky synthesizers and cool sound effects. Moose really knows how to keep a listener’s imagination running.

After a 7 year stint as a drummer for Ani DiFranco, Andy Stochansky taught himself guitar and started writing songs. Not long after, he was spotted in a bar and quickly signed to RCA / Victor. After releasing and touring two albums, he moved to Los Angeles to write for other artists. Though his writing career was successful, he woke up one day and realized he had to create for himself again, so White Elephant Orchestra was born.

Stochansky shares of the single:

“Every time I would look at the news or look around people I was talking to, everybody looked completely down and out. These  times have financially and mentally hit a lot of people very hard, so it’s a song about taking somebody and escaping with them …even for just a few minutes.

In saying that I also had to make sure that the lyric “I’m not giving up just need a holiday.. take us higher even for a day” had to be in there because some people can never give up and have that luxury.”

Five years after the end of his last musical project Inlet Sound, Montreal-native Michael Wexler is stepping forward into his first solo-project with the name Significant Other. Under the new moniker and striving for both energy and intimacy, Michaelʼs first forthcoming release “Kimberlite” is built from the output of a brain constantly seeking serotonin while over-analyzing every incoming and outgoing signal from the past years.

This musical project is a deeply personal attempt to put voice and lyric to the ever-changing circumstances of a life examined. Stepping away from collective songwriting towards solitary musings that are vulnerable and unapologetic has been the trajectory of this project, although it has stalled for the last number of years – but as the new decade rears its head, it seems as though it is time to bear fruit.

“The song was co-produced by myself and JP Levac who played drums on the tune. We spent a few days at his studio, out in the country near Hawkesbury, ON which he calls Studio Plywood. My dad has a farm out near there where I spent some time this summer, so we could take our time and explored 8 songs I had recorded over the last few years and after being away from music for a while. Things evolved when taking the song apart and putting it back together with JP at the drums and me on the rhodes, where we found a fun transition of a verse and chorus in different time signatures. Adding on the melodies of the bass and electric guitar from Marie-Claudel Chénard brought it all together, along with the gorgeous back-up vocals with Marilyse Senécal.”
