Mixing the cadence and rhythms of 60’s soul and 70’s rock with modern country, The Prairie States was born out of a desire to put a fresh touch on a classic design. With a stack of brand new recordings already completed and even more underway with CCMA and Juno-Award winner Bart McKay, they show no signs of slowing down. The Prairie States’ latest single, “High That I’m Riding,” is a euphoric country rocker that gallops headfirst towards the indescribable feelings that only the one you love can ignite inside of you. The track continues to showcase the band’s unique take on modern country music.

Following his self-titled debut full length last year, Venus Furs has shared a new video for track “New Inspiration”. The moody, late-night song has an encompassing psych rock sound with lyrics inspired by classic literature.
The video reflects both the lyrical and musical tone of the song – a lushness created by heavily affected visuals layered onto dark footage.
Venus Furs is the moniker of Montreal’s Paul Kasner, a multi-instrumentalist, writer, and producer. In preceding years the act has taken many forms, supporting the likes of The Horrors and The Twilight Sad as he worked on refining and determining exactly what Venus Furs was meant to be. After years of hard work and hurdles, Kasner released the Venus Furs LP, a rigorously crafted set of songs that voyage heedlessly through sonic and mental terrain in a way that could only be the product of a single idiosyncratic mind.
Joining forces for an event-level collaboration from their forthcoming debut album, Hellraisers Pt. 1, multi platinum DJ trio Cheat Codes teams up with Gold-certified rising pop maverick AJ Mitchell for a brand new single entitled “Hate You + Love You” today.
“I think we’ve all had that experience with a friend, family member, girlfriend or boyfriend where you just have that feeling: I hate you but I love you at the same time. AJ Mitchell captures that every and we were so stoked to have him jump on this with us,” said Cheat Codes. “Big love to Bryn Christopher, Kota and Henrik for sharing their magic with us on this. It was a true pleasure to work with them.”
For the track, Cheat Codes cooked up a glistening soundscape topped off by glitchy 808s and a laidback bass line. This backdrop really allows Mitchell’s voice to soar. Reflecting the song’s thematic push-and-pull, he delivers intimate verses before the high register hook takes hold with heavenly vocal echoes as he admits, “I hate you, love you, the rest of my life.”
As they embark on what is slated to be their biggest year yet fueled by their debut album release, Cheat Codes have already made waves and built momentum through a series of single releases. Most recently, “No Chill” featuring breakout TikTok star and musician Lil XXEL lead the radio airwaves in January 2021. With three legs leading into the album, each ‘part’ will personify the individual members of the trio and give you a deeper look at each group member. The Los Angeles-based group consisting of KEVI, Trevor Dahl and Matt Russell have skyrocketed to fame since they first came together in 214. Over the course of the last six years, they’ve amassed over 6 billion total streams, with 12 million listeners tuning in each month to their music via Spotify. Dirty Snowman Society has just released their latest single “Say Nothing” , and it starts off extremely powerful. This Colorado-based rock band was able to create a fast pace and tense track, that has us on the edge of our seats for more.
With such full, intense instrumentation in the first half of the track, we’re greeted with a familiar set of power chords and exciting drums. However, about 2 minutes into through the track, we get to a different interlude/bridge section that is reminiscent of middle-eastern music. This interlude quickly transitions with a roll of the drums, a classic rock guitar riff, and a solo for the guitarist.
This song is powerful, and the message is clear. We continue to look forward to more of Dirty Snowman Society’s music!
