Belle And Sebastian Want To Write A Song About You. Yes, YOU.

https://modernmysteryblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/belle_and_sebastian.jpg?w=300

If you’ve ever dreamt of having a song written about you or have ever foolishly convinced yourself that a song you love was written about you (it’s okay), then Belle and Sebastian are now offering to make your dreams come true.

In honor of their upcoming album Write About Love, due out on October 12th, the Scottish outfit is opening up the chance for its fans to win themselves a personalized song. The contest is based on an essay and may remind you of your high school years, but it should be nothing to deter the truly determined, especially since the winner will get to see their song released as a 7″ next year.

This is how it works:
Step 1: Purchase Write About Love from your local record store or your digital store of choice.
Step 2: Type in the code you received with your purchase onto the band’s website.
Step 3: Write about love in a 300-word essay.

Once this process is completed, the band will choose its favorite submission and Stuart Murdoch will head over to the winner’s home and spend a day with him or her to get inspired and write the coveted personalized song.

You can start to get your own creative juices flowing by watching this “Write about Love” video HERE.

Introducing Paper Crows

Meet Emma Panas and Duncan McDougall. This London based duo has put a very unique spin on the idea of a two-piece band. The anticipated drum/guitar/vocal that you would expect from such a group does not even begin to explain the complex sound created by these two. With the clashing of elegant tones and dark electronic rhythms, The Paper Crowes definitely provide us something to look forward to.

“Stand Alight,” the bands debut single is due for release on October 11th and tour dates are most likely on their way. The band has just begun playing very popular live shows in and around the London area and will hopefully be coming to the states soon.  They are currently in the process of recording their first album but you can listen to the single right here!

We Are Trees Drop Debut EP on Wax and The Web

wearetrees boyfriend1 [Hypeworthy] We Are Trees’ <em>Boyfriend</em> EP

With an EP called Boyfriend on the way and a lead singer from Virginia Beach, it would be a safe assumption to tag We Are Trees as the latest lo-fi/chillwave sensation.  Safe, but wrong.  We Are Trees take fidelity seriously.  Violins strings hum, James Nee’s Daniel Rossen-style vocals ring out, and you can even hear whisping.  Still not convinced?  Here is a track off the EP, “Sunrise Sunset,” which will be out digitally and on vinyl November 9th from Collective Crowd Records.  You can bundle up for $12 with a pre-order HERE.

Jer Coons Prepares Remix Album Release And First Headlining Club Tour

jer1Following up on the success of his debut album Speak, Jer Coons is about to release a remix EP called JERemix, featuring six completely transformed and edged out songs from his traditional, acoustic “Vermont Pop” full length. Coons remixed one of the songs himself and left the rest to his friends, while keeping an overseeing eye. The EP, out on Roll Call Records, should hit the stands in the early Fall.

Listen to “Speak” after its makeover, courtesy of Nash, right HERE to hear just how far from the original these remixed songs have come:

But Jer Coons isn’t stopping there; these remixes are going on the road as he will be performing them live throughout the Northeast this Fall during his first ever headlining club tour, with supporting guests Jesse Ruben and Seth Glier. He will drop his acoustic guitar and play solo with a myriad of samples and a loop station during a run that will take him from Boston, MA to Northampton, MA with a stop at The Studio at Webster Hall in New York City on October 6th.
