Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin Get Dirty In New Video, “Critical Drain”

Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin can write a good song but they can also pull a good stunt, as shown in their latest video “Critical Drain,” which just premiered on the MTVu website. The video, directed by the band’s friend Brook Linder and filmed in the band’s hometown, features some standard performance shots but mostly shows the band members dragged around on the ground. They even get splashed with paint in the process! Although they did their own stunts and didn’t get hurt, I wouldn’t recommend trying this at home. Watch the video HERE.

And because the band just released, via Polyvinyl, the album Tape Club, which compiles all the best of what they’ve discarded over the years, they’re also touring! Are they coming near you? Check it out below.

Ryan Adams To Release New Album On October 10th

Ryan Adams will release a new album next month! Ashes and Fire, which will be released through Adams’ own PAX-AM label and Sony’s Columbia Records, will be available for you eager fans to purchase on Monday 10th October. This will be the first solo album he puts out through his own company and in that spirit, it seems he chose his team to reflect that homey feeling. The album was recorded in LA at Sunset Sound in Hollywood and produced by Glyn Johns. While the producer is known for his work with the likes of The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Clash, The Who and The Rolling Stones (not too shabby), he also happens to be the father of Ethan Johns, who produced Ryan Adams’ albums Heartbreaker, Gold and 29. Other notable people who appear on the album are Norah Jones and the organist from Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers Benmont Tench. In other exciting news, a tour in preparation so stay tuned!

Oberhofer Premiere “Gotta Go” On Pitchfork, Sign To Glassnote Records

Oberhofer

Brad Oberhofer is on a roll. Recently signed with Glassnote Records, Oberhofer will be releasing their debut album in the early months of next year. While we wait for that, he just premiered on Pitchfork the single “Gotta Go,” which will be released through White Iris and will come out physically on October 4th. You can get “Gotta Go” HERE.

On top of that, the band will be joining Les Savy Fav on stage on September 6th at the Music Hall Of Williamsburg in New York after a year touring with bands like Twin Sister, Sleigh Bells, Neon Indian and Bear In Heaven. Needless to say, the Tacoma native has the indie music scene at his feet.

Tom Vek Premieres Smoky New Video

Having a background in graphic design, Tom Vek pays special attention to the visual world that surrounds his music. So it makes sense that with his new video for his single “Aroused,” off his latest LP Leisure Seizure, he’d get something special. The video, directed by Saam Farahmand, features a lot of very attractive people acting sexual and sensual, cigarette in hand. The tension is very palpable. And because Tom Vek is a man after your heart, the video ends with a few sweet dance moves. The man himself doesn’t appear in the video, but even then, it’s already quite a statement.

Watch the video below:

Pepper Rabbit, “Murder Room”

Introduced the other day on Stereogum, “Murder Room” is a new song from LA’s Pepper Rabbit and the latest preview track from their new album, Red Velvet Snowball, which came out August 9th, on Kanine Records.  Penned by Xander Singh and described as the most straightforward pop song he’s ever written, “Murder Room” talks that talk and walks that walk.  There’s not much else to say about it: hot potato synth, hot potato drums, and some pretty harmonies.  Nothing in the song is sustained, it just bounces along, proud of its poppiness. You can look forward to hearing it live on Pepper Rabbit’s Fall tour with Calgary art-rock group, BRAIDS.
