AERS Debuts Haunting Single, “Blue Tempest”

aers

AERS is Tasha Abbott and Zack Nestel-Patt, currently based out of Brooklyn, New York. Their stunning arrangements liken the sounds of Grizzly Bear and Sigur Ros, channeling both as influences. The group has just premiered the dreamy, lustworthy track, “Blue Tempest,” via Redefine Magazine.

“Blue Tempest,” is a gracious first glimpse into AERS’ upcoming record due out later this Fall. The debut EP release, Blue Tempest, sets the scenery for the band’s haunting  tones that grace the record throughout. On “Blue Tempest,” Abbott’s voice lingers with dreamy lyrics, which paints a bold and sultry soundscape. Powerful yet graceful, her voice captivates delving deeper into the track. Nestel-Patt helps to build the song with layers of dark textures, bringing the piece to fruition. The sound of AERS will stop you dead in your tracks; be prepared to fall in love with every listen.

THE GOLDEN FURS Unveil Debut Single “STRAND”

New York born, The Golden Furs, have just premiered their debut single, “Strand,” on The Vinyl District yesterday morning. The piece is the first official taste of the buzzworthy band, which has been creating quite a stir with their live shows in and around New York City. Early this October will see the release of The Golden Furs’ first EP, Strand, with an official release party on October 5th at The Bitter End in Manhattan.

Formed in 2013, the group combines elements of rock, pop, dance and folk to create a sound that proves to be captivating. “Strand” evokes a stunning blend of dreamy indie pop as it is reminiscent of heavy hitters such as Muse with a hint of Jeff Buckley. The harmonic melodies of the guitars create a heavenly atmosphere, which provide a sultry bed of vocals for Singer/Guitarist John BellaVia’s.

John BellaVia shared some insight into the new track:

“It was written to reach out to a spirit that’s alive and strong inside of me…maybe not so much flesh and bone just yet, but a small strand that is relieving and in fact every way like me. Since its about reproduction in its simplest form, we wanted to have a sexy groove to compliment the concept of the song: starting as a strand, finding its other half, conception, and birth. Simply put…procreation. The song captures these moments from beginning to end with a soundscape that builds into a victorious outro. An ode to my future kin can be heard throughout the song.”

The Golden Furs John BellaVia (Guitars/Vocals), Jamie DiTringo (Guitars/Vocals), Saul Slotnick (Bass), Matt Langner (Drums).

Catching Ghosts with Juviley.

Imagine a pitch black screen.Seconds later, a electronic music voyage kicks in.Glimpses of avatar ghosts start popping up in the window. According to Juviley, there are no rules. A transplant from Israel, he is the brainchild behind a conglomeration of his album Our Choices Rhyme  camouflaged inside of a video game. Juviley’s voltage of futuristic beats, and bending synths combine as a project that takes the listener in a progressive labyrinth of  winning the game, in order to win a free download of the album. Bravo!

Edward Rogers Plays NYC 11/17. Prepare to Be Wowed!

Modern Mystery favorite, Edward Rogers, is ready to show New York what he has to offer. Just releasing his fourth solo album this week, Porcelain (Zip Records), Rogers is taking the stage at the new Cutting Room in Manhattan, this coming Thursday, November 17th at 8pm. For those of you who have never heard of Edward Rogers before, get on the bandwagon already! A little bit of Badly Drawn Boy, a touch of Jarvis Cocker, and a big splash of Rogers, create a song that is sonically distinctive.

Edwards has also released a stunning video for the song “The Biba Crowd.” You can see the hip black and white, vintage video for the track here:

The New York-based Rogers, who spent the first twelve years of his life in Birmingham, England, says “I’m motivated by the urge to make music and express myself, rather than by some abstract idea of being some kind of pop star, so I feel like I’m making music for the right reasons.”
