Violens Premiere New Video, Announce New Tour Dates
New York group Violens (sic) just premiered their first single off of their upcoming album Amoral.
The song is called “Acid Reign (In Trees Mix)” and the video features Caroline Polacheck of Chairlift directing.
Here’s what she said about the video.
“The R&B version of “Acid Reign” is so deep (the way kids say “deep” in middle school), almost too close and lush for comfort. Jorge is from Miami, so when I heard the song, I imagined a Miami heartbreaker-alter-ego in passionate, solitary mourning.”

Rooftop Vigilantes Skip Cross Country
Kansas’ own Rooftop Vigilantes just performed at last weekend’s free Scion Garage Festival on Saturday. The event, taking place at Liberty Hall, sawthe band playing alongside Times New Viking, Best Coast, The Raveonettes, The Oblivians, The Clean among others.
This month the four-piece will pony up with friends Baby Birds Don’t Drink Milk for a short jaunt that will bring both bands to the CMJ Music Marathon in NYC. Check out the specifics of that show and more, down below.

The Klaxons Get All Stripped Down at the Bowery Electric
The Klaxons are a hectic outfit known for their brash, energetic live performances and winning a Mercury Prize. The group are among the best contemporary reincarnations of post punk/new wave, but they want to prove that there’s a melody going on underneath it all. Back on Spetember 20th, The Klaxons played an all-acoustic set at the Bowery Electric. The performance was a part of music site BaebleMusic’s The Guest Apartment series, and it found the band stripping down yet refining their vocals, especially. Anyways, harmonies abound, the band played an impressive, 8-song set that you can view on Baeble’s fancy new player HERE.
The Henry Clay People Guest on NBC’s “Parenthood”
At the onset of the summer, The Henry Clay People put out their second record, Somewhere on the Golden Coast, which has garnered comparisons to Pavement, The Replacements, and The Hold Steady — not bad company. They are taking their own style of 70s barrock on the road this October in a mostly headlining tour that will see them open a date or two for the Drive-By Truckers. If you think you have them figured out by now, I bet you couldn’t guess the band will be appearing on the October 5th episode of NBC’s Parenthood, called “Date Night.” Don’t get too excited, it’s probably going to be one of those 3-second intro shots of a bar after commercial, but hey, it’s national television. Good for them.
Tame Impala Debut New Video, “Lucidity”
Tame Impala just released the video for their song “Lucidity,” off their debut album InnerSpeaker, out on Modular Recordings. In the song’s lyrics, lead vocalist Kevin Parker sings about reaching the sky; the video’s director Robert Hales took that idea to the extreme. Shot about 300 miles from Melbourne, the video was shot by a camera launched into space with a weather balloon packed with a GPS unit, which returned to Earth once it popped at its summit 14 miles high in the air. The effect is quite impressive with the image flipping and turning, slowly getting further and further from the ground into space. Preparation was strenuous: numerous authorizations had to be obtained from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority and the first cameras launched fogged up, or ran into clouds that obscured the view. But the result is beautiful and you can watch it right HERE.

If they put so much effort in their videos, imagine the dedication that could go into their live shows! They will be embarking on 10-week international tour next week that will bring them to the United States in November so definitely check them out.
