Trish Keenan, of Broadcast, Passes Away

This morning at 9 a.m. Broadcast signer Trish Keenan passed away from complications of pneumonia. After battling the illness for two weeks in the hospital, Keenan has lost her fight. Warp Records, the band’s label, released this statement earlier today:
“It is with great sadness we announce that Trish Keenan from Broadcast passed away at 9am this morning in hospital. She died from complications with pneumonia after battling the illness for two weeks in intensive care. Our thoughts go out to James, Martin, her friends and her family and we request that the public respect their wishes for privacy at this time. This is an untimely tragic loss and we will miss Trish dearly – a unique voice, an extraordinary talent and a beautiful human being. Rest in Peace.”

Fire Records Releases “Dance To The Best Of ESG”
London’s iconic Fire Records has announced the release of the two-disc Dance To The Best of ESG, from New York City’s legendary punk/funk collective, ESG (Emerald, Sapphire, and Gold.) For the very first time, all of the songs that made the South Bronx family band such an innovative influence over the past two decades of hip-hop are available in a single release. Covering their earliest Martin Hannett produced tracks, such as “Moody” and “UFO,” right through to their more recent output, this compilation leans heavily on the foundation that has made ESG one of the most sampled artists of all time- giving both diehard fans and first-timers a taste of every one of their stellar records. Every cut runs deep and every ass had better shake. When ESG says dance, you had better dance!

Wool Recordings Announces Limited Edition Franklin 7″
With a new album on the horizon, Wool Recordings has announced plans to release a limited edition 7″ single from New Jersey DJ artist, Franklin. The vinyl single will be released in February, with two new tracks and a remix from Com Truise (otherwise known as Seth Haley). Franklin, the latest side project of Franck Rabeyrolles, relishes 80s old-school synth and bass lines that transcend the standard “chill wave” moniker, creating a sound world that is much more personal, and a lot more tasty. Franklin’s recent remixes for the likes of Neon Indian and Twin Shadow have already brought him wide acclaim from Lowdown Magazine, Dublab, and The Organ– making the anticipation surrounding his new album all the more unbearable.
