Eagle And Talon Schedule New EP For February

LA based lady rockers Eagle and Talon have announced plans for a new EP. Due out on February 22nd, In Manila represents a turning point for the band. Unlike their debut, which was comprised almost entirely of post-punk rock music, Eagle and Talon have decided to include dancier pop elements on In Manila.

From the BI/AKKA Records Press Release: “Clocking in at just under 14 minutes, In Manila covers a lot of new ground for the duo.  The exotic ride begins with the dreamy aquatic organ instrumental “I Want Everything.” Title track “In Manila” crashes in on the reverie with a propulsive beat, packing infectious hooks into a quasi-Caribbean party. “Ruen Pair” envisions the duo as Enya on Halloween, while “Modified My Knife” brings back their art-damaged guitar sound.  The EP closes with “For The Bond,” a jazz-disco anthem.”

Jesse Harris Shares Live EP from Porto Alegre

Jesse Harris recently wrapped up a South American tour, which is quite the endeavor given that fans in that sector of the globe rarely see anyone come through other than U2 or Guns n’ Roses.  Harris seemed to really enjoy a set he did in Porto Alegre, Brazil, because he’s releasing it as a live EP.  That show, back on November 18, was an intimate acoustic offering from Harris and percussionist Bill Dobrow.  It’s hard to believe the crowd could have been very large; from the sound of it, the audience was very quiet and benevolent.  Most of the time, its easy to forget this is a live recording until applause segues between tracks.  Below is a chance for you to preview three of the EP’s tracks (after sacrificing your email address), which are soothing parables told in Harris’ breathy, soft register behind sparse guitar work.  No wonder the crowd was so silent.

Esben and the Witch to Release Debut Album

esben

“Not to say they’re in any way a throwback, but the intense fury these three modest humans work up reminds me of ’80s/’90s bands who were desperate to match savvy rock songwriting with scary, theatrical emotion and intensity without turning it into noise punk or cabaret shtick. They walk a line, evoking folklore and fairy tales and witchery, swelling to a climax that’s hypnotic but never quite reveals itself.” SPIN

Dark noise pop Esben and the Witch are set to release their debut album, Violet Cries. Their intense sound has been raved about ever since they released their 3 EP. You can check out their “Warpath” mp3 here, and their new music video for “Marching Song” below.

Alexander Ebert (of the Magnetic Zeros) to Release Debut

alexander

Alexander Ebert, member of the hippie band Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, is set to release his debut album called Alexander. But this isnt your typical solo album. Ebert explains “I wanted to be able to build an album basically with my hands, like building a house by myself.”, and that is exactly what he did. This album is completely produced, written and performed by Ebert. He plays all of the instruments in the songs as well as singing them. To make matters even more interesting, Ebert cites childhood songs such as Patty Cake and Disney tunes as sources of inspiration for this record. Make sure to check it out when its released March 1st via Community Music. Peek at the album cover above and the tracklist for Alexander below.
