Additions to Northside Festival Lineup

Exciting new additions have been made to the 2011 Northside Festival: Wavves and Guided By Voices!  These bands are joining the previously announced Beirut, Deervana (Deer Tick), Twin Sister and others!  Guided By Voices will headline the McCarren Park Stage on June 18th and Wavves is set to be the supporting act.  Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door and can be bought here: http://www.ticketfly.com/org/365

Empires in Rolling Stone Magazine Cover Competition

Chicago, IL rock band Empires is still in the race to be on the cover of Rolling Stone!  There are currently 8 bands still fighting it out over the clutch prize of being the first unsigned band to land the cover of the prestigious music magazine.  The fourpiece made it through the first round by traveling to NYC to record two new songs and perform in front of Rolling Stone editors and Atlantic Records A&R executives.  You can listen to two singles right here: http://www.rollingstone.com/choosethecover/artists/empires

Mixel Pixel Releases Video

Australian indie pop ensemble Mixel Pixel has released a video for their single “Haze For Days.”  The video is completely animated and contains claymation and stop-motion action.  Upon watching it, one thinks of the mindblowing Peter Gabriel videos of the 80s.  Enjoy the craziness below!
