Florence + The Machine To Hit Saturday Night Live

So far, 2010 has been kind for Florence + The Machine. Not only were they picked to contribute to the new Twilight soundtrack, they will be the musical guests for Saturday Night Live near the end of November.

Joining host Ann Hathaway, Florence + The Machine will be live from New York on November 20th. I’m guessing the new song from the Twilight soundtrack will be on the playlist. In case you haven’t heard it, here is the music video for Florence + The Machine’s “Heavy In Your Arms” from Twilight: Eclipse.

James McCartney Is Ready To Rock

James McCartney’s father is one of the most influential figures in rock and roll, so it’s no surprise that he is trying his hand at the genre that his father affected so heavily.

What is surprising is that his debut effort is so darn…good. Taking inspiration from the Beatles (duh), Nirvana, and Radiohead, James has released a 5-song EP (Available Light) that blends his velvet pipes with electric guitars, mandolins, piano and bass. All of which he recorded himself. Holy crap.

James explains that “it is basically rock n’ roll, clean sounding and vocal.” The songs were written over a 10-year span, which makes sense considering he had to learn every instrument ever made.

You can find Available Light on Enigma Records in stores (or browsers) now. Feel free to check out the song “Angel” right here first.

The Dears Preparing A New Album

Montreal rockers The Dears have announced that they are set to release a new album this February, called Degeneration Street.

The album will be the group’s fifth full-length and will be out Feb. 15th on Dangerbird Records. The album sees the group returning to the orchestral pop/rock that made them loved nationally. You can catch the first single off the record, called “Omega Dog”, performed live in Mexico City right here.

The band will be performing Degeneration Street live in Brooklyn for two nights in November. The band is doing it to raise money for War Child International, an organization that helps children who have seen the horrors of war. If this seems like a good cause (it is) and The Dears seem like a great band (they are), check them out…

Former Ghosts Premier New Video, Album On The Way

Former Ghosts are releasing a new album November 9th and in order to prepare you for it, they have come out with a new video.

You can catch the video for the song “Taurean Nature” right here. The video features Freddy Ruppert impersonating Elvis, although not quite in the way you’d expect. It’s not very flattering, and features a lot of junk food.

Furthermore, Former Ghosts are giving a sneak peek (or listen, as it were) of their upcoming album New Love over at Self Titled Magazine. Check out the link here and look for Former Ghosts latest full-length November 9th.

Warpaint Release CD, Add Tour Dates

One of Los Angeles’ hottest new bands, Warpaint have released their debut album The Fool this week. The band has already received raves from the New York Times, Rolling Stone and the Chicago Times, among others, for their ethereal melodies and beautiful vocals.

On top of their first ever full-length, the critical darlings have announced that they will be touring the states starting in November!

If you haven’t had the pleasure of hearing Warpaint, that’s okay. You can check out their video for the song “Undertow” right here.

Now you can see one of the most talked-about bands soon! Well…if you live in or around…
