Dirty Snowman Society Unleashes “Too Much is Never Enough”

Dirty Snowman Society is back at it again in 2021 with their brilliant new single “Too Much is Never Enough,” which will delight your ears.

The quartet, however, furthers the continuum with modern touches of grunge and alt-rock, and a rural bravado informed by a vigorous high-altitude lifestyle in an environment where it snows 350 inches a year.

The song is filled to the brim with catchy hooks, glorious melodies and vocals that will linger in your head for days. It’s been a while since we heard from the quartet, and they are certainly taking 2021 by storm, within every note.

The band’s smoldering emotive musicality recalls Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, and other beacons of the 1990s riff rock revival. Lyrically, the band touches on everyday life struggles, politics, and romance. For Frank Costantini (vocalist / drummer / co-songwriter), who has had a successful professional career as a writer in advertising, working on original music unlocked a flow of words he had never previously accessed. For most of the guys in Dirty Snowman Society, the band is a chance to reclaim a love of rock n’ roll, and share the joy of music with others. “It’s never too late—no matter what—to do what you love,” Frank says. “Especially when you’re playing music with the right people, and putting in the time to make it quality.”

As they gear up for their biggest year yet, we can expect more goodies from the band down the line, as they make music on their own terms…the only way they know how too.

Varro Vivyds Rises High on “Fool’s Gold”

Varro Vivyds is a Santa Cruz native who creatively captures her emotions and writes them in such a way where the audience will feel like they’re experiencing them too. Her melody work will have her songs playing in your head during the day, and keeping you up at night.

Varro Vivyds shares of the track:“Fool’s Gold was the first song I wrote after a six year hiatus due to struggling with active addiction,” said Vivyds. “It’s a beautifully written break up song about my first clean relationship, and first clean break up. Fool’s Gold is extremely relatable, and when you listen, it feels as if it was written for you personally.”

In her new single “Fool’s Gold”, Varro Vivyds captures this feeling with a pristine and immaculate perfection. Just like its subject matter, this track is deathly addicting. Its arrangement is minimal in the best way, there’s nothing you don’t want and everything you do.

Honeypot Shares “Fake News”

“Fake News” is a perfect song to send Trump out of office – It’s been one of his favorite Tweets and outcries that we have had to tolerate for the last 4 years.

This track from Charleston SC band Honeypot is both tongue in cheek and dripping in deep sarcasm all the way through but what it is really doing is denouncing the hypocrisy of Trump’s attacks against journalism.  According to lead singer Frank Hartman the track was written in 2018, but now that this presidential reign is ending, it seems the perfect send-off to both.

Hartman chose to preface this track’s video with a very powerful poem “First they came which according to Wikipedia …” is the poetic form of a post-war confessional prose by the German Lutheran pastor Martin Niemöller (1892–1984). It is about the cowardice of German intellectuals and certain clergy—including, by his own admission, Niemöller himself—following the Nazisrise to power and subsequent incremental purging of their chosen targets, group after group. It really hit home to preface it with a poem about accountability now that we are at the end of a presidency that seems to have had none.

The Charleston, SC band is heavily influenced by classic rock and prog rock bands like Rush, Alice in Chains, Tool, and Guns n Roses.

Eric Selby Delights on New Track “Orbit”

Known mostly for his work in the blues genre, producer/artist Eric Selby is following his debut album, Do, Baby, with a new sound in his single “Orbit”. After working with other critically acclaimed artists and getting inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame, Selby is sharing his own original music, and doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. After all of his success with his previous work, he is starting to branch out into new styles and genres while putting his own signature blues flare on it.

Taking heavy influence from artists like Pink Floyd and The Beatles, “Orbit” tells the story of a former flame trying to rekindle the love they once had with the main character of the song. There is a very Americana feel to the song as a whole with notes of psychedelic inspiration when it comes to the harmonies and guitar riffs. I also just love the fact that there is a bassoon part in this song. You never hear of a bassoon in mainstream music, so I thought the inclusion of that was awesome. The lyrics of the song have a more satirical style than Selby’s other work, which is usually more dark and mysterious. When talking about “Orbit”, he said, “Between the initial acoustic blues approach, co-writer Don Chapman’s killer country-flavored guitar licks, a bassoon solo and a hip-hop beat, we have a true hodgepodge of vibes to convey what we felt was needed to make “Orbit” spin”.

The way that Eric Selby is able to combine genres is honestly astounding to me. “Orbit” manages to incorporate ideas from blues, psychedelic rock, and country in such a beautifully cohesive way. It helps to give the song the immaculate vibes that make it so enjoyable. “Orbit” makes me want to drive with my windows down during a sunset, even though it’s January.  I can’t wait to see what else Eric Selby is going to bless us with in 2021.

Gracie Nash Reveals Dreamy Video + Single for “Sippy Cup”

Gracie Nash is too young to remember the halcyon eras of classic pop songcraft, but she does remember what these songs meant to her growing up during the early 2000s era of fizzy divas and boy bands. Songs from the 1950s through the 1970s were an escape from painfully complex school dynamics. These songs gave Gracie hope, comfort, and courage. Today, the New York-based artist gives back with well-crafted and lushly orchestrated modern vintage pop songs.

Her songs perfectly encapsulate her eccentricities, tying together her playfulness and poetic sensibility as a lyricist, her theatrical musicality, and her love of influences such as Billy Joel, the Beatles, Motown, disco, Joni Mitchell, Carol King, and ELO. Her talents came full bloom while in college, and she graduated from NYU Steinhardt with a Master’s Degree in Songwriting. Since then, Gracie has been a featured singer with the string group Little Kruta, and a featured artist with the New York Nashville Connection. Today, outside of her artist’s career, Gracie is a private guitar/voice/ukulele/songwriting teacher, and a Teaching Artist with the Metropolitan Opera Guild.

Gracie shares:

I wrote “Sippy Cup” about 3 years ago when I was in the midst of the NYC dating scene.  I had met a few nice guys, however the same issue kept creeping up: transparency. If you know me, you know that I’m the epitome of an open book. I treasure honesty & transparency so much in all my relationships…and yet I found myself swept up in these unfulfilling flings with mysterious & aloof men. One of the most notable romances was with a smooth-talking banjo player who constantly kept me on my toes. Inevitably, the affair fizzled out. At first I wondered what was wrong with me, why didn’t he want to open up to me? But upon reflection…I realized it wasn’t me at all. I was catching up with my cousin & he asked me what had ever happened with the banjo player. Without skipping a beat I said “You know, it was like, I was a glass of water…and he was just a sippy cup.” And as the words came out of my mouth I knew that line had to go into a song. I imagine most people have dated a Sippy Cup at some point or another. While we’re trying to start clear & healthy relationships (a la a glass of water) we end up paired with a small & opaque person (a la a sippy cup). It happens to the best of us! I hope that my song “Sippy Cup” helps those who are looking for love have a good laugh at the ones who got away. PS. Just in case said banjo player is reading this…it’s water under the bridge and I truly wish him the best! If anything I’m grateful for the song inspiration.”

The 8th studio release for the artist, it comes in the form of two double albums, for a total of 24 songs.
