Tokyo Police Club Premiere New Remix & Add Winter Tour Dates

Tokyo Police Club have premiered a new remix of the Champ album track, “Favourite Colour” by Brooklyn-based DJs PUNCHES, now available for downloading on RCRDLBL.com .  PUNCHES is the Brooklyn-based disco project of twin brothers Greg and Darin Bresnitz-who can be found tearing up the dance floor as DJ duo Finger on the Pulse and nightlife pioneer Alan Astor.  After iterating the original track’s piano lick, PUNCHES takes over with heavy beats and synth, adding even more energy to TPC’s material.

Tokyo Police Club just announced additional dates to their Winter tour, kicking off January 13 in Ottawa, and taking them through their native Canada and most of the U.S. by mid-February.  Also, Champ just made Myspace.com’s “Year In Music”, landing at #31 – “In the end, this is TPC’s most “mature” effort, but the fact that they managed to create it without losing their sense of youth or spirit is what makes it such a rare, unlikely joy.”

The Knife Are Spreading Seeds

Techno group The Knife have released their first single in “Seeds”. The song will come in EP form with remixes from Portable aka Bodycode and Shinedoe.

The song is taken from the group’s album Tomorrow, In A Year which was commissioned by the Danish performance crew Hotel Pro Forma.

The project is based on Darwin’s famous and controversial On The Origin Of Species and challenges the convention of a standard opera. Adding techno is definitely a step in the right direction in that regard.

The single will be out December 6th both digitally and limited edition vinyl. In the meantime, check out The Knife’s mystifying “Silent Shout: An Audio and Visual Experience” right here.

The Morning Benders’ “Excuses” Get the Golden Filter Treatment

If you missed The Morning Benders’ shows in the US and unfortunately cannot afford a Christmas/New Years’ vacation in Australia where they are headed next, this may not quite be enough to counter the disappointment, but it can at least provide you with one extra tune you can impress your friends with. New York City electronic duo The Golden Filter have remixed the Californians’ ballad “Excuses,” off their album Big Echo (Rough Trade). In this shiny new arrangement, Chris Chu’s voice is complimented with Golden Filter singer Penelope Trappes’s for an eerie, echoed beginning. It quickly transitions into a steady beat that replaces the original song’s twirling guitars. Instead, a never ending keyboard loop will have you entranced, so much that the abrupt breaks in the song will have you disoriented, until you realize they were just there to let you catch your breath before another round of frenetic dancing.

You can download this remix for free on The Morning Benders’ website HERE but make sure to get a first listen below:
