MillionYoung cover Floyd’s “Us and Them” for Yours Truly

Anybody could cover Pink Floyd in the studio, layering tracks to create the sonic landscapes they classically reveled in.  If Live in Pompeii taught us anything, it’s that playing Pink Floyd songs live is an intricate process; one that lesser bands could never manage — at least until Macbooks.

MillionYoung recently took the reigns on Dark Side of the Moon’s “Us and Them,” and Yours Truly has captured it on video to share with you.  MillionYoung doesn’t get as bombastic as the coda of the original, which is probably a good thing, and treats the entire song as a fuzzed out jam.   The Flaming Lips could learn something from this rendition.

Yellow Dogs To Be Unleashed At SXSW 2011

Formed in Tehran, Iran in 2006, Yellow Dogs are a band comprised of friends from the city’s fledgling  punk scene. The band members met in a park called “ghorbaghe”“frog” in Farsi—where rockers, skaters and street artists of all types would congregate, albeit carefully under the eye of Iran’s strict laws.

5 years later, Yellow Dogs are touring in the US and prepping for the May release of their debut EP, In The Kennel. See a full list of dates below.

Young Man announces dates for SXSW

Young Man has received some internet love for his warm bedroom pop so far, with even Bradford Cox giving them a nod of approval.  Makes sense considering their tracks sound like they could have been recorded in a cozy attic or crawlspace, albeit with a window and some light.  Fresh off releasing Boy EP on Frenchkiss, Young Man intends to make the rounds at SXSW this year and has announced the date, time, and location of those shows (how nice!).  Not a minute wasted from the announcement, AOL Spinner included Young Man on its “Top 100 acts at SXSW 2011.”

Looks like everyone is telling you to go check them out.
