CFCF (aka Michael Silver) has released a second mixtape into the wild.
Do U Like Night Bus? is out now via The FADER. What is a night bus?
“night bus is a silly little term that originated on Hipinion that describes not a certain genre but a certain feeling of music,” Silver Explains. “Can’t quite describe what it is but Eno, G-Side, David Sylvian, DJ Screw, Angelo Badalamenti, Lil B, and the Akira soundtrack, are all super night bus.”
Silver predicts that his music will be part of a much larger trend.
“We could imagine this mix as a zeitgeist as far as what might happen in music in certain circles in the next 365 days aka people are probably gonna be REAL INTO slowing shit down and kind of already are.”
At the onset of the summer, The Henry Clay People put out their second record, Somewhere on the Golden Coast, which has garnered comparisons to Pavement, The Replacements, and The Hold Steady — not bad company. They are taking their own style of 70s barrock on the road this October in a mostly headlining tour that will see them open a date or two for the Drive-By Truckers. If you think you have them figured out by now, I bet you couldn’t guess the band will be appearing on the October 5th episode of NBC’s Parenthood, called “Date Night.” Don’t get too excited, it’s probably going to be one of those 3-second intro shots of a bar after commercial, but hey, it’s national television. Good for them.
Tame Impala just released the video for their song “Lucidity,” off their debut album InnerSpeaker, out on Modular Recordings. In the song’s lyrics, lead vocalist Kevin Parker sings about reaching the sky; the video’s director Robert Hales took that idea to the extreme. Shot about 300 miles from Melbourne, the video was shot by a camera launched into space with a weather balloon packed with a GPS unit, which returned to Earth once it popped at its summit 14 miles high in the air. The effect is quite impressive with the image flipping and turning, slowly getting further and further from the ground into space. Preparation was strenuous: numerous authorizations had to be obtained from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority and the first cameras launched fogged up, or ran into clouds that obscured the view. But the result is beautiful and you can watch it right HERE.
Watch the video below:
If they put so much effort in their videos, imagine the dedication that could go into their live shows! They will be embarking on 10-week international tour next week that will bring them to the United States in November so definitely check them out.

Although initially tagged as a disappointment upon release in 1996, Weezer’s Pinkerton has enjoyed an almost unanimous change of heart.
Rolling Stone felt obligated to go back and re-review the CD in 2004, upping the initial 3-star review (out of a possible 5) to…5 stars. Meanwhile, Spin ranked it in the top hundred albums of 1985-2000 and Guitar World ranks it in the top hundred guitar albums of all time.
So you could say the second opinion of the album has been a little more favorable.
Now Weezer has decided to re-release this suddenly popular album with a complete second disc’s worth of unreleased material, out on November 2nd.
The Pinkerton-Deluxe set is a two-disc set with B-sides, unreleased tracks, live tracks and (duh) the original album itself. A Weezer fan could not ask for more.
Greg Cartwright(the Oblivians, Compulsive Gamblers) and Coco Hames (the Ettes, Coco Motion) had an idea. They would each record a song and release it as a split-45.
That idea has blossomed into a whole album, featuring guest spots by members of the Black Keys and the Raconteurs.
“”I thought, I’d write a song, Greg would write a song, we’d record them together, and that would be that,” says Hames. “Luckily Greg’s prolific awesome switch was on, and we got this whole record instead.”
Recorded under the name the Parting Gifts, the album (TheStrychnine Dandelion) features contributions by Dan Auerbach (the Black Keys) and Patrick Keeler (the Raconteurs, the Greenhornes).
You can find it on store shelves and online (of course) November 9th. Luckily for you, we also have one of the tracks available right now! You can hear “Keep Walkin” right here.
The track listing for the full album looks like this:
1 Keep Walkin’
2 Bound To Let Me Down
3 Strange Disposition
4 My Mind’s Made Up
5 Shine
6 Born To Be Blue
7 Staring
8 Don’t Stop
9 My Baby Tonight
10 (Walking Through The) Sleepy City
11 Don’t Hurt Me Now
12 Hanna
13 I Don’t Want To Be Like This
14 Strychnine Dandelion
15 This House Ain’t A Hom
