With a new album on the horizon, Wool Recordings has announced plans to release a limited edition 7″ single from New Jersey DJ artist, Franklin. The vinyl single will be released in February, with two new tracks and a remix from Com Truise (otherwise known as Seth Haley). Franklin, the latest side project of Franck Rabeyrolles, relishes 80s old-school synth and bass lines that transcend the standard “chill wave” moniker, creating a sound world that is much more personal, and a lot more tasty. Franklin’s recent remixes for the likes of Neon Indian and Twin Shadow have already brought him wide acclaim from Lowdown Magazine, Dublab, and The Organ– making the anticipation surrounding his new album all the more unbearable.
Dream Diary was created seemingly on accident, forming when bass player Jacob Danish Sloan bumped into guitarist Madison Farmer (literally) in New York City. The two mixed up iPods in the shuffle and were amazingly listening to the same album (The Queen is Dead). The two realized that they couldn’t pass up an opportunity like that, and shortly after Dream Diary sprang to life.
With a collection of starry-eyed pop songs, Dream Diary’s debut album You Are The Beat pays homage to The Pastels, The Smiths and Belle & Sebastian.
The band will be showcasing their talents with the esteemed Wombats at the Mercury Lounge in New York on January 19th. If you can’t make it there, you can grab Dream Diary’s debut album when it goes to stores on February 15th.
Beginning next month, Woods will hit the road as a 3-piece for a stripped down and mostly acoustic tour. The set list will include some of the band’s biggest hits, as well as new favorites from their forthcoming album due out later this year. Tape Deck Mountain has released a single called “It Goes Down” from their forthcoming EP entitled Secret Serf. The EP will be released this Tuesday, Jan. 11th. Upon first listen, one immediately thinks of 90s shoegaze acts such as My Bloody Valentine. There is a lengthy instrumental “noise” start and then the dreamy, nearly indecipherable lyrics begin. Derek Vincent Smith, better known as Pretty Lights, provided fans with a pleasant surprise earlier this month when he announced the launch of his own record label. Derek’s objectives are simple; he wants to supply his fans, and fans of electronic music at large, with free music from the artists he believes in and supports.
To that end, Pretty Lights Music will release two free EPs on January 25th, Break Science’s debut EP, Further Than Our Eyes Can See, and a new EP from Paper Diamond entitled Levitate. Down below we’ve included the lead singles from each EP for streaming.
