“Right from the beginning we’ve had the exact same idea of what a new, exciting band should be,” says Jesper Mortensen of his new band Make Out. After the dissolution of Mortensen’s last group, Junior Senior, he teamed with vocalist Leah Hennessey and began working on what would become the band’s forthcoming debut EP.
Due out on February 22nd, How To is comprised of 3 tracks, including the band’s first single “I Don’t Want Anybody That Wants Me.” Head over to Spin to download that track and read more about the group.
Detroit producer and MC Black Milk is known for his complex, sample-heavy instrumentals and his lyrical, pull-no-punches flow. After releasing 2010’s aptly dubbed Album of the Year, he now embarks on a North American tour. Accompanied by vocalist and keyboardist AB as well as drummer Daru Jones, we’re sure this live backing band will only enhance Black Milk’s stage presence. Yellow Bird Project, a Montreal-based non-profit organization, and illustrator Andy J. Miller have teamed up once again to find a way to celebrate indie rock while benefiting charities of those same indie rock artists. After the success of 2009’s The Indie Rock Coloring Book, the team is set to release The Indie Rock Poster Book on May 7th. This book will feature 30 different full color posters inspired by indie rock songs such as Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love” and Iron & Wine’s “The Trapeze Swinger.” The book will be available at www.yellowbirdproject.com.
The Whigs have released a band-directed music video for the song “So Lonely.” The song comes from the band’s current album In The Dark and the video features a lot of nifty editing to go along with the incredibly catchy song. The Whigs just started a European tour with Kings of Leon.

Pepper Rabbit have announced that the psych-pop outfit will be supporting Ra Ra Riot on their upcoming West Coast tour.
The LA-duo released their first album, Beauregard in October on Kanine Records and have been on the road ever since. Along with a few Ra Ra Riot dates, post-SXSW Pepper Rabbit will be hitting the road with Miniature Tigers. The band also has some news regarding SXSW that they will be sharing in the near future.
The duo have also released a music video from their first album. It features floating instruments and moving paintings, and is excellent. You can see it right here:

Brooklyn’s own Class Actress have announced a spring headlining tour that takes them right through SXSW. The band’s first EP, Journal of Ardency is available now on Terrible Records.
