If you missed Henry Rollins KCRW broadcast last month where he played the new and much-anticipated Deerhoof release, Deerhoof vs. Evil in its entirety, the self-produced album is now available (for your ascension into awesomeness), as is their pretty picture on the cover of The Wire, with a full interview with the mysterious band on the glossy inside detailing dark secrets and the troubles of being 16 years old—as a band, that is. Toro Y Moi Premiere “Still Sound” Video And Extend Tour

tym

On February 22nd, Toro Y Moi will be releasing Underneath The Pine on Carpark records and you can now view the video for one of its star tracks, “Still Sound,” which just premiered on Pitchfork. Directed by Steven Daniels, the video is a cute and playful still 8 insight on frontman Chaz Bundick and bandmates goofing around, rehearsing and even dancing. The retro image grain matches the old school r’n’b funk mood of the song and at the same time maintains the hipster image associated with chillwave. You can watch the video HERE.

And just to add to the good news, Toro Y Moi will be extending their Spring tour where they will be joined by Cloud Nothings, Braids, Adventure and Nite Jewel. Make sure to check below to see if they will be coming by your side of the US.

“The Indie Rock Poster Book” Gets A Release Date

Yellow Bird Project, a Montreal-based non-profit organization, and illustrator Andy J. Miller have teamed up once again to find a way to celebrate indie rock while benefiting charities of those same indie rock artists.  After the success of 2009’s The Indie Rock Coloring Book, the team is set to release The Indie Rock Poster Book on May 7th.  This book will feature 30 different full color posters inspired by indie rock songs such as Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love” and Iron & Wine’s “The Trapeze Swinger.”  The book will be available at www.yellowbirdproject.com.

Mean Creek Offer Up Free EP

Boston-based rock quartet Mean Creek recently made their way to Brooklyn to record a new EP with legendary producer John Agnello (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., The Hold Steady, etc.). After being named “Best Boston Act” by the readers of The Boston Phoenix and receiving nominations at this year’s Boston Music Awards for “Album of the Year” and “Song of the Year” for their track “The Comedian,” Mean Creek entered the studio earlier this month with Agnello in an attempt to capture their distinct live sound and energy onto recording. The resulting EP, entitled Hemophiliac, is now available for free download on the band’s BandCamp site.
