GOBBLE GOBBLE Release New 7″, Tour Dates

Frenetic bedroom pop guru, Cecil Frena (aka GOBBLE GOBBLE), has been busy touring and recording the past few years and is back with a new limited edition 7” called Wrinklecarver.  Frena blew out his throat, gave up screaming, moved to San Francisco and started making pop records. Using his roots, Frena has created music like “the Muppets on a savage acid trip at an Animal Collective show.” EYE Weekly.

Girl Talk’s New CD Is Cheaper Than Dirt

Well…store-bought dirt anyway.  The CD All Day is one of Girl Talk’s (aka Gregg Gillis) most complex to date, and it’s completely free. It measures in at 71 minutes and a mind-boggling 373 song samples.

You can download it for free. Just click HERE and the CD is almost yours. No emails, no required donations (although I’m sure he wouldn’t mind if you did donate).

It’s been a crazy year for Girl Talk already, playing Congress Theater in Chicago for New Years and hitting up the festival circuit. Gillis isn’t taking any breaks, either. He will be out on the road to support All Day throughout March. If you like the CD, you can go support Girl Talk and get an amazing show in the process. It’s a win win.

Parlovr Treats Fans To An Early Christmas Gift

Everyone loves free stuff and the guys from Parlovr (pronounced Parlour) know that.  So to quench everyone’s need for a freebie, the guys from Montreal are giving their fans and listeners a chance to download one of their latest singles, “Hell, Heaven” for free from their Facebook page.

The single is part of a four song EP entitled Heaven/Hell/Big/Love that started off as more of a creative experiment.  The band started playing “Hell, Heaven”, which is about keyboardist/vocalist Alex Cooper’s childhood growing up in the middle east, last year while out on tour and decided that they wanted to get in the studio and create about three or four other tracks that basically had nothing to do with one another.  For Parlovr, it was a chance to just make some music that would require very little rehearsing or thought.  Other tracks on the EP include “Big Love”, a song about an ex-girlfriend of guitarist/vocalist Louis David Jackson, “Where is the Sun” and “Tehching Hsieh”.  The end result is a wonderful collection of songs that offer contrasting melodies and emotions.

Parlovr will be touring the United States this fall, so keep an eye out for upcoming tour dates. You can preview “Hell, Heaven” HERE.

New York’s Acrylics Set To Start New Year With New Album

Putting all of their heart and life into their first full-length album, New York duo Acrylics will be releasing Lives and Treasure on January 25, 2011 on Hot Sands Records.

Joining forces in 2008, Acrylic’s Molly Shea and Jason Klauber first met at Oberlin College where the two quickly started creating their dreamy sound.  They released an EP entitled All of the Fire on Terrible Records giving Shea and Klauber the opportunity to work with producers like Patrick Wimberly of Chairlift, Matt Boynton of Gang Gang Dance and MGMT, and Britt Myers of Yeasayer and Charlift.  The EP quickly garnered a lot of buzz among listeners and critics alike.

After the release of All of the Fire and sharing the stage with bands like Das Racist, Class Actress and Girls, the two were ready to head back to their Bushwick apartment and finish up their first full length album.  Lives and Treasure is full of tracks rich with layers of meaningful lyrics backed with flowing harmonies and melodic beats.  For Shea and Klauber, the album comes straight from the heart.

Check out Acrylics on their MySpace page and hear tracks from their previously released EP All of the Fire.
