Vivian Girls Share The Joy

Spring may seem far away, especially for those of us plagued by a constant influx of snow, but the Vivian Girls were kind enough to send over a new song and some good news. The threesome-guitarist/vocalist Cassie Ramone, bassist/vocalist Kickball Katy and new drummer Fiona Campbell have announced an April 12th release date for their new album Share The Joy.

“The sound is more open, more free.  I think that this album really shows our strengths as musicians, and shows us melding together musically. Share the Joy has the most diverse batch of songs of any of our albums,” says Ramone of the album. And that is evident in the record’s first single, “I Heard You Say,” which can be listened to below and downloaded HERE.

Make Out Offer “How To” EP

“Right from the beginning we’ve had the exact same idea of what a new, exciting band should be,” says Jesper Mortensen of his new band Make Out. After the dissolution of Mortensen’s last group, Junior Senior, he teamed with vocalist Leah Hennessey and began working on what would become the band’s forthcoming debut EP.

Due out on February 22nd, How To is comprised of 3 tracks, including the band’s first single “I Don’t Want Anybody That Wants Me.” Head over to Spin to download that track and read more about the group.

Mean Creek Offer Up Free EP

Boston-based rock quartet Mean Creek recently made their way to Brooklyn to record a new EP with legendary producer John Agnello (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., The Hold Steady, etc.). After being named “Best Boston Act” by the readers of The Boston Phoenix and receiving nominations at this year’s Boston Music Awards for “Album of the Year” and “Song of the Year” for their track “The Comedian,” Mean Creek entered the studio earlier this month with Agnello in an attempt to capture their distinct live sound and energy onto recording. The resulting EP, entitled Hemophiliac, is now available for free download on the band’s BandCamp site.

Eagle And Talon Schedule New EP For February

LA based lady rockers Eagle and Talon have announced plans for a new EP. Due out on February 22nd, In Manila represents a turning point for the band. Unlike their debut, which was comprised almost entirely of post-punk rock music, Eagle and Talon have decided to include dancier pop elements on In Manila.

From the BI/AKKA Records Press Release: “Clocking in at just under 14 minutes, In Manila covers a lot of new ground for the duo.  The exotic ride begins with the dreamy aquatic organ instrumental “I Want Everything.” Title track “In Manila” crashes in on the reverie with a propulsive beat, packing infectious hooks into a quasi-Caribbean party. “Ruen Pair” envisions the duo as Enya on Halloween, while “Modified My Knife” brings back their art-damaged guitar sound.  The EP closes with “For The Bond,” a jazz-disco anthem.”
