Empress Hotel Release A Colorful New Video

The premise for Empress Hotel’s new music video (for the song “Mach Bach”) started with left-over New Year’s balloons. The video features the band buried in over 1,500 glittery balloons, or enough to completely engulf their practice space.

The song is from the band’s upcoming self-titled EP, which will be out March 8th on Park The Van Records (home of Dr. Dog and the Spinto Band). To back their first EP, Empress Hotel will be touring the East Coast. This includes a couple days at SXSW (which isn’t really the East Coast, but whatever).

Check out the video for “Mach Bach” and if you want to see Empress Hotel, their tour schedule is after the video.

Gwyneth and Monko News

Folk duo Gwyneth and Monko will release their debut album next week. The band is influenced heavily by both folk and indie rock, something that is quickly evident on the debut, out on which was just dropped a couple of weeks ago.

Gwyneth and Monko formed in 2009 after Gwyneth had released her solo album Wishbone. She was looking for an accompanying musician when she stumbled onto Monko, a multi-instrumentalist. The two immediately began writing songs together while touring behind the album.

The two plan to hit the road extensively behind their self-titled release. A tour schedule is being worked up and will be out soon.

Infantree’s Freaky New Video

Infantree definitely seems older than their ages would suggest (besides the mis-spelling of their name). Although three-forths of the band is under 21, they are already making a name for themselves musically.

The band has been booked to play in the SXSW ASCAP showcase, taking place March 18th at the Victorian Room in the Driskill Hotel. The band was also invited by Neil Young to perform at his Bridge School Benefit alongside Elvis Costello, Emmylou Harris and Modest Mouse.

The group will be re-releasing their first album, Would Work later this spring. Until then, enjoy this creepy video for the song “Feet of Clay”.

Acrylics Release New Single

The duo Acrylics have just released a new single from their upcoming debut, Lives and Treasure. The song “Sparrow Song” can be heard below.

Acrylics’ first album was produced with the help of Matt Boynton (MGMT) and Britt Myers (Yeasayer) among others. Critics compare the duo favorably to other electronic-pop bands like Stars or Headlights.

Look for the band’s debut album March 1st, on Friendly Fire Records.
