Playtime!:Young Nick Krill with Magic Mike in Brooklyn, NY – CMJ 2010

We had the chance of catching up with one of our favorite musicians here a Modern Mystery during CMJ 2010. Nick Krill of the Spinto Band. Performing one show only at the Park the Van showcase in Brooklyn, Krill, who performed under the name Young Nick Krill was joined by Magic Mike of …and the Moneynotes, and put on a stellar show. The fun didn’t end there as the duo performed a Playtime! session with us outside of the venue. Dude who video-bombed the second song, we will never forgive you.

Weekend Out On The Road

San Francisco- based shoegazin’ trio, Weekend have been described as a band that takes the aggression of punk and filters it through a wall of reverb.

Favorably compared to bands such as No Age, Sonic Youth and Skullflower, the band has already released two sold-out EPs. The band has finished work on their first full length, Sports which is set to be released this upcoming Tuesday,November 9.

Weekend has also released a video from their upcoming album. You can check out “Monday Morning/Monongah, WV” below.

Along with the release of “Insects” the band has also announced that they will begin a west coast tour with the experimental duo Gauntlet Hair. The tour is already underway and the rest of the dates are listed below along with the single Insects.

Ryan Adams Releases Double Album of His Archives

FINALLY. Ryan Adams is set to release a double album of his musical archives. The most bad-ass musician on earth will be releasing the now titled III/IV hopefully before the year’s end (no release date yet), on his own label Pax-AM. This double album was recorded with the Cardinals in 2007 when the band was recording Easy Tiger(Lost Highway).

The set will be released on vinyl, cd and download, and if you head to the Pax-Am site, you can read all about the project. Amazon is already letting you pre-order as the album drops December 14th. Pax-Am is starting their pre-order later this month, with one on i-tunes on November 23rd.

The site describes the record like:

“a rock record that felt more like a hybrid of all the records that the band had mutually consumed as kids… from influences as wide as KISS and The Cars.” It’s also a “concept rock opera about the 80s, ninjas, cigarettes, sex, and pizza,”

Ah Ryan, it is good to have you back in any form.
