For a very long time it seemed like this album was never coming, but all of a sudden, we are so close to it being released! The Strokes’ newest effort, Angles, will be available on March 22nd via RCA records in the US but the first single off the album, “Under Cover of Darkness,” is streaming on their website HERE and will be available to purchase online through iTunes U.S on February 15th. Check it out to see whether the wait since 2006’s First Impressions Of Earth was worth it!
The Luyas’ debut album, Too Beautiful To Work, will be out on Dead Oceans on February 22nd. It will feature Owen Pallett as well as Arcade Fire’s Sara Neufeld. The Canadians, however, have already made the LP’s title track available to download over on Pitchfork. “Too Beautiful To Work” sounds deceivingly simple with Jessie Stein’s soft high-pitched voice but the music and lyrics form a never ending whirlwind of layers that make this title track really interesting. Cincinnati’s The Seedy Seeds have a new album, Verb Noun, and you can listen to the title track here! The band was formed in 2005 and this first track shows us exactly how well they’ve perfected their sound in those few years. You get to have a classic electronic dance beat mixed with an earthy feeling thanks to Mike Ingram’s banjo and a hint of the sound of horses riding in the background in the rhythm. The Los Angeles-based duo, The Wellspring, made up of Dov Rosenblatt and Talia Osteen, will be joining Ben Kweller and Pete Yorn on tour. On February 22nd, Toro Y Moi will be releasing Underneath The Pine on Carpark records and you can now view the video for one of its star tracks, “Still Sound,” which just premiered on Pitchfork. Directed by Steven Daniels, the video is a cute and playful still 8 insight on frontman Chaz Bundick and bandmates goofing around, rehearsing and even dancing. The retro image grain matches the old school r’n’b funk mood of the song and at the same time maintains the hipster image associated with chillwave. You can watch the video HERE.

After two prior releases that ventured into bluegrass and up-tempo Eastern European influences, Dustin Edge just put out his new acoustic folk EP, Calm, on January 25th.
