Ivan & Alyosha Drop New EP

Recently, Seattle four-piece Ivan & Alyosha unveiled an acoustic performance of their song “Fathers Be Kind” via YouTube. The track, whose title also doubles as the name of I&A’s forthcoming EP, highlights the band’s smooth harmonies.

The video, which can be viewed down below, is the first in a series of clips chronicling the making of Fathers Be Kind. The band plans to release a new acoustic performance and video description each week leading up to the release of the album.

Meanwhile, the quartet will be hitting the road midway through this month for a nationwide tour that will eventually take them down to Texas for SXSW.

Pepper Rabbit Reap A Bountiful Video for “Harvest Moon”

Thanks to the likes of Beirut and Edward Sharpe’s traveling circus, french horns, tubas, harpsichords, pump organs and other self-consciously nontraditional instruments have rounded up a substantial little corner of the indie realm. Regardless of this sub-genre’s forefathers exhausting any remaining ingenuity Balkan/freak/avant folk could possibly offer, more and more musicians seem to be deeming themselves multi-instrumentalists these days.  Pepper Rabbit is a great example of a band putting out what you can call good music – as long as you choose to disregard anything that came out before it, or at least, not care. The point is, there’s nothing about Pepper Rabbit’s “Harvest Moon” that hasn’t been heard before, nor does it really succeed as a homage to the music that inspired it.  It simply exists; relevant by association.  Oh well.. watch the video (directed by Alex Disenhof and David Altobelli) at the link below:

Sufjan Documentry Still On Hold, New Trailer Released

Since 2006 eager fans have been waiting for the release of the long awaited Sufjan Stevens documentry directed by Kaleo La Belle. The 52 minute film titled Crooked River is a tale of Sufjan and his brother Marzuki visiting their father in Michigan after a few years of not seeing him. There is no word if this documentry will EVER be released. Why? Well no one has really said. There is a new trailer for the film though which you can watch below. It’s a curious tale.
